Year2014~ BS/ MD (or DO) Chances Thread:

I thought it could be useful, especially for future Combined Degree Applicants, if there was a thread where students could post their stats and others could tell their honest opinions about them. I am open to all criticisms, so feel free to speak.
Anyway, I am a Canadian applying for US B.S/ M.D programs, and here are my stats:

GPA: Exact Rank unknown, Top 10%, 3.90/ 4.0 (Unweighted)
SAT: 2200 single score, (670 CR, 790 M, 740 Wr)
SAT II ( Match IIC 800, CHEM 780, BIO 770)
AP ( CAL BC 5, AB sub 5, CHEM 5, BIO 5, PHY B 4)
University Course Credits (taken during high school): STATS (A+) LOGICS (A+)
George Maison Summer Research Camp: PROBABILITY (Awarded), ASTRONOMY (completed)
Internship at State University of New York (SUNY)
500 Hours of Volunteer at Hospital and Medical Center.
Provincial Champion, Table Tennis, (2012); Silver Medalist (2011)
Provincial Soccer Player; Band Vocalist; Sunday School Teacher

These are the schools I have applied for BS/ MD:
1. Wayne State university: MedStart
2. Howard University: Accelerated Medical Education
3. Northern Michigan U: MedStart
4. Hofstra University: BS/ MD
5. Clarkson University: BS/ MD
6. Brown University: PLME
7. CaseWestern University: BS/ MD
8. George Washington University: BS/ MD
9. St.Bonaventure: BS/ MD
10 Pitzer College: BS/ DO
11. New York Institute of Technology: BS/ DO

I understand it is extremely difficult to get into any of these programs, and I would be more than grateful to go if accepted either BS/MD or BS/DO. I know asking chances won't help, especially after we have already applied and are just waiting for results, but I just want to hear honest opinions, whether I could hope for acceptance, or just not expect much from them...
I am certain that medical is what I wish to pursue as my profession, so I know these programs are best choices I can make. I really appreciate your opinions!!

The Canadian residency might be an issue. Other than that your stats look good, GPA/SAT is about average for these programs. You applied to a few programs that are not as well known, so that could be to your advantage. Really bring up your devotion to volunteering, 500 hours is a great amount, especially in a hospital setting.

Thank you @TheBombingRange. Any other comments?

I agree with TheBombingRange, the Canadian residency will throw off your chances a bit, but it’s still possible. And yes, definitely bring up your hospital volunteering, and if you can get any research or shadowing opportunities, that would help a ton!

Chance me please. Here are my stats:

GPA: My school doesn’t rank: It’s a very tough private school. 3.82/ 4.0 (UW), 3.97/4.0 W
SAT: 2340 (760 CR, 800 M, 780W)
SAT II: Match II 800, CHEM 740 – Re-taking it again, BIO 760
AP Chem 5, AP BIO 4, AP English 5
Senior year course load: AP US History, BC Calculus, College level Physics, AP Env.Sciences, AP Spanish, Regular English.
Shadowing = 60 Hours
Volunteering hours > 300

@alex9542‌ What do you mean by " especially after we have already applied and are just waiting for results"??? Have you already applied to some? My earliest deadline is in October…
