what are your yearbook quotes going to be?

I think mine was:

"I find it unjust and simply bad journalism to fabricate half of your quotes after facing time constraints, you <beep>."</beep>

I was EIC newspaper. Go figure.

Wow, you guys think far ahead :o

mine are due next week

I think I'm going to do

Clamo, clamatis, omnes clamamus pro glace lactis

There is a higher law than the law of government. That's the law of conscience.
-Stokely Carmichael

but i dont know what else

avoid like the plague:
-quotes by yourself (i hate it when people quote themselves! especially when it's them saying something pseudo-deep. very irritating)
-"we must be the change we wish to see in the world." -gandhi. not that i don't appreciate that quote/sentiment, but it's taking over the world. seriously out of control. skip it.
-"in three words i can sum up everything i've learned about life: it goes on." -robert frost. ditto. good quote, way way overused (four seniors at my school used it last year)
-song lyrics, unless they sound good/coherent without knowing the song. otherwise they just look weird and kind of lame.

that one quote by Emerson about succeeding is my favorite.

EDIT:

"To laugh often and much:
to win the respect of intelligent people
And the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
And endure the betrayal of false friends:
To appreciate beauty:
To find the best in others:
To give one's self:
to leave the world a little better.
whether by a healthy child.
A garden patch .
or a redeemed social condition:
To have played and laughed with enthusiasm
And sung with exultation:
To know even one life has breathed easier
Because you have lived. ..
This is to have succeeded."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

At my school, we do things a little differently...Since we're a small school (450), each senior gets his own page...His senior portrait goes in the top left corner, and he can fill the rest up with tons of quotes and pictures...

But one quote I must have:
"I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with them later." - Mitch Hedberg

"We the people, not we the pandas."
"You're insane, you know that?" - My English teacher

A few of my favorites...

"I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom" -Thomas Carlyle

"When it is dark enough, you can see the stars" -Ralph Waldo Emerson

"When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer" -Die Hard

There are definitely others. I'll post them if I remember.

Oh, and I have no clue which one will be my senior quote. I'm just a junior. ^_^

Here's my sister's quote: "We are all lying in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars" -Oscar Wilde (very quotable btw)

a tremendous source on the subject.

I was actually leaning toward the Gahndi quote. My grade has 75 people in it, and I haven't seen that quote from anyone in the last couple years. Here are some others I've considered:

It is a mistake to try to look too far ahead. The chain of destiny can only be grasped one link at a time.-Chruchhill

To build may have to be the slow and laborious task of years. To destroy can be the thoughtless act of a single day.-Chruchhill

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear.-Twain

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.-Twain (too caustic?)

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.-Einstein

i personally like
"blessed are they who learn to laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused" - ???

feel free to steal, i really don't care lol

"Being criticized as yourself is far beter than being praised as a two-dimensional character created as a tool of likeability."

"Failure is something we can avoid by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing." -Dennis Waitley

"I will not let school get in the way of my education"

"Allowing yourself to be manipulated into a model of mediocrity is the easy way out"

A hat should be taken off when you greet a lady and left off for the rest of your life. Nothing looks more stupid than a hat.
~P. J. O'Rourke (1947 - )

is "imagination is more important than knowledge" -(Albert Einstein) too cliche? There's only 160 ppl in my grade and i really do like the quote, but I feel like it's just too overused. any thoughts?

"The devil only exists because of your belief in him; same goes for that other guy."

-Sage Francis

I just sent mine in on Friday (our school requires all yearbook stuff really early) :
"Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground" - Theodore Roosevelt.

it's very me. I'm quite the realist.

mine will be:

"Whaaaaaaaaaatttttttttt? Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!" -Lil' Jon

mine's gonna be

"Who let the dogs out?"

lol jk

and "Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused" used to be hung up on the wall in my family's bathroom but now its been replaced by a picture of a stupid grandfather and son walking down a lame street

Ew, down with emo. Oh wait, I still listen to SoCo obsessively...

For APLA we have to write a college essay. We're given a variety of prompts from various college applications and get to choose one to do. I'm doing Cornell's - "Choose and discuss a quotation or personal motto that reflects your values and beliefs and tells us something about the kind of person you are." Noice. I'm stoked.

bump!!!! i need a senior quote soon...
