Years of foreign language?

Quick question...

Technically, I'm only taking three years of Spanish in high school. Once this year (junior) is over, no more Spanish. However, it's because I took Spanish 1 in middle school and I'm skipping level 4 to go right to AP because my teacher insists that I would be bored silly in level 4. So, my question is, when colleges look at "years" of a foreign language, do they actually mean LEVELS of foreign language taken? This has always confused me. x3

I always imagined it would be years. But do not fret, I believe that your AP score should be indicative of your capacity, which is most likely all they care about in the first place.

Yes, they take into consideration the years and the level. I skipped Spanish 3 and took AP, so I technically only have 3 years of foreign language. But colleges see that on my transcript.
