Years of language?

how many years of a certain language do you need to study abroad?

during all my high school yrs (i am a junior) i have been dying to study french. I took french classes in my freshman and sophmore years, but they were not complete. I cannot take french this year, because my school does not offer it. Now i will have to take french online my whole senior year, but either in French I again or French II, even though i have not studied in a whole year. Will that matter when it comes to studying abroad? and when will I be able to study abroad? probably my junior and senior years at college?

It depends on the program.
Some programs don’t have any language requirement, others require one. It varies greatly and you need to check the programs requirement.

When I was in high school there was no French Language offered in my school, I went to the l’alliance francaise in my city. If you live in a large city, chances are good that you might find one.

I can speak with personal experience that no amount of foreign language classes at school had prepared me for the real thing.

you went to the what?

and no- haha i do not live in a large city, or even a city for that matter. it is kinda rare for people to take french classes

Alliance Francaise:

Is there a university in your area? sometimes they offer French classes in the summer to high school students.
