I received B's for both semesters of chinese 1 and a C+ for first semester and C- for the second semester of chinese 2. Does this mean i will have to take 1 semester of foreign language at my college? This sucks cuz IGETC says you cant have C-, but does that apply for high school foreign language? I really don't want to take 1 semester of foreign language so does anyone have experience with this?

I'm not sure if that applies to a class taking while in High School. I susgest that you ask somebody in your schools admissions department.

IGETC does not apply for HS.

For the UC requirement, you may use two years of high school study of the same language to fullfill the foreign language proficiency section.

Are you sure the requirement is 2 years of high school foreign language? UCB wants three years of high school foreign language to fulfill the requirement.

Yes, I have the IGETC UC Transfer Course Agreement (TCA) in front of me and it clearly states that two years of high school study in the same language fullfills the foreign language division.

I guess it depends on the UC if UCB wants 3 years of high school foreign language. The 3 years requirement might be what they recommend and not what is needed

Oh, my bad. I guess it does depend which UC you transfer to and what your major is. For my major at the College of Chemistry at Berkeley it states that I need to "complete a course comparable to the third year of a foreign language in high school or the second semester of a foreign language as taught at Berkeley." If this is what they recommend I would definitely fulfill that because that would mean I would've satisfied that requirement after transfer. It is definitely not needed to transfer because one can always take it at the UC after transfer.
