Yes...chances...

I really can't believe I've joined the Chances cult here, but I am getting really worried about college admissions...

So...yeah, chances for UC Berkeley, UCLA, UPenn, Columbia, Brown, Cornell, Wellesley, Georgetown, and any other schools you can suggest would be great!

Female, Public High School in San Francisco Bay Area, CA (School district is apparently ranked top in CA)

GPA is rounded...I don't have exact decimal places on me :D
UW: 3.75
W: 4.1
SAT I: 2230 (I took it only once; I'm not sure if I should retake it)
SAT IIs: Math II 700 (I am definitely going to retake this + take Lit), US 720, Bio 740
APs: Calc AB (5), Euro (5), Calc BC (5), US History (5), Biology (5), English Language and Composition (5) - for this last one, the class is not offered at my school
PSAT: 2280 - less important, but I think I'm up for consideration for National Merit

School Junior Honor Guard (probably not very important at all for college apps but it is teacher nominated)
California Scholastic Federation Lifetime Member

ECs:
Speech and Debate - President
14th in the State for International Extemporaneous, Octo-Finalist for Public Forum Debate (I need to check the number...)

MUN - Club President
Distinguished Delegate Award for Legal Committee at Contra Costa County MUN Conference

Internship at Office of Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher
Internship at Office of County Supervisor Gayle Uilkema

Governor's Service Award and another Natl Volunteer Service Award

Work service - piano tutor, academic tutor, etc.
I also have played piano for 10 years or so and have awards for local contests, but I was never able to keep up the work so I don't know how important that is.

I have solid Letters of Rec and have started working on my college essay.

I haven't done anything that important this summer other than volunteer and work...let me know if anything will help. Thank you SO MUCH! It means a lot to me that you are taking the time to read this post.

One more thing, I'm really interested in a business/law route...thanks again!

...bump bump

Hi macace3! I'll chance you ... but can you chance me as well? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/538677-please-chance-me-i-d-really-really-appreciate.html.

Your UW GPA of 3.75 is pretty good, and I see you challenged yourself pretty well with a good number of AP classes. Btw good job on the straight 5s! You're definitely getting college credit for those classes. Your PSAT is very good at a 228, and your SAT - to some extent - confirms this score, as you got a 2230 at your first sitting. I do not recommend retaking the SAT as a senior, because admissions officers don't like people retaking the SAT as a senior. Your SAT Subjects are not bad, because they're all at or above 700. It is not necessary to retake the Math II, even though it's slightly on the low side; you'll still be fine. Your ECs and honors are very good, and you demonstrate leadership in those ECs.

Overall, you're a strong candidate; you should be proud of what you've done in HS.

Chances:
UCB: Safety match (GPA)
UCLA: Safety match
UPenn: Match
Columbia: Reach
Brown: Reach
Cornell: Match
Wellesley: Not familiar - never researched it because I think it's an all girls school

Good luck!

Hey, where do you go to school? Lowell? I'm at Lincoln

I actually didn't look over all your stats (Too ****ing good), but congrats on all you have achieved.

I would say
UCB Match
UCLA Safety
Upenn (wharton?) Reach if Upenn, huge reach if Wharton
Brown/Cornell: Slight reaches/matches
Columbia: Reach

take it easy
