D was puzzled when she opened the large envelope from Hendrix and foil stars started falling out. She became increasingly excited as she read down to "accepted". That was as far as she got for a good while. She was very very happy. She may be a high stat kid but there was a visible sigh of relief that somebody wanted her. "I'm going to college!!" Then it was off to the bedroom and a phone call to her best friend which consisted primarily of shrieks, shouts, and giggles. All smiles at Casa Curmudgeon.

Congrats to MudgeD!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Great telling of the story.......didn't read beyond the "accepted" couldn't care which school this was........."someone wanted her".....all SOOOOOO true.

CONTRATULATIONS

WooOOHooOO! I love that they put stars in the envelope :p Congratulations!

Thanks, it really was pretty cool .

Actually, it was more like "I've already been accepted at a school I like better than A+M , dad. So you can throw that scholarship letter you are holding in your hand away". LOL.

That's awesome news, curmudgeon. Please give her a high five for me!

Wow!! Hendrix is a wonderful place! I can just imagine the celebration!

Congratulations Curmudgeon and D.! More good news is ahead, so get used to those fat envelopes!!!

YEAH :) ;)

Congrats to mudgette. It really is a good feeling to read accepted.

I know, Drinks are in you (as always) at SA.

Congratulations Curmudgeon and to your daughter too.

congrats!! what a terrific feeling--love the stars!!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

High five from one who has been there!!!! My shoulders dropped at least 2 inches after the first acceptance was in hand.

Did you hear about FA?

hehehe......they stopped reading at the "accepted" so they didn't get that far!! Just kidding of course. Actually that did happen to me during my moments of excitement.

It was very (and unexpectedly) nice to see her reaction.

Apropos to another thread, Hendrix is a school that dad pretty much insisted on visiting and ultimately including (with her acquiescence "O.K. I'm not being fair to Hendrix. I liked the campus and the kids I saw. I'll apply") . Why ? Because her reasons for not considering it were not based on fit or feel from our research and campus visit but on some single stat (she thought and thinks that 70% from Arkansas and Texas is too close to home). Now that the BBall coaches interest has been piqued by two game tapes, who knows? Maybe she'll be glad dad didn't let her give up on Hendrix as a possible.

Wonderful! Now you can relax knowing she will be happy no matter what else comes her way - and much will come! Enjoy the ride!

A.S.A.P. That's exactly what I'm thinking.

SBmom, no money talk yet but Hendrix is more reasonable than some right out of the box, so a little goes further at Hendrix than some other choices of hers.

Oh, and she received a compliment about her essay about her math teacher and a query about this season of Alias. I guess they do read that stuff the kids send.

CURMUDGEON I have been kinda following your progress in this fun college search - and have to say - this is AWESOME news for you and your DD - now nice to be WANTED!!! and at a school that one likes too.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!

My S also applied to Hendrix (just got email today saying application is "complete"). I won't tell him about the stars, but I won't be surprised!
btw, I like the "granola" questions on the application--a personal touch.
