Man, that was fast. Yet more very good PR for Hendrix on this Board. Very big congratulations. Have you PM'd valuable1212 yet?

iderochi, between several of us (you included) we have done wonders for Hendrix, and Centre, and Rhodes, and Earlham and several more that weren't being talked about that often on these boards . I think that is is one of the best things this board can do in service to the other 'rents and the kids themselves. Kind of our own version of one of those "Hidden Ivy Gems that Change Lives of Distinction" articles.;)

Congrats! How nice to have one in the pocket so soon! And a good one at that! Nicely done.

And so it begins. Great news Curmudgeon! Happy, happy T'giving. I know Carolyn's daughter is having some problems with her jaw - has your girl recovered well?

I'm sure the first of many great acceptances-Congrats!

Congratulations! Now you can all really enjoy Thanksgiving!

Congrats on the first fat envelope and welcome to the first station of the Via Crucis!

The steps coming after the acceptance roll in can be as excruciatingly painful as the early list building, especially if there is too much "Embarrassment of Riches."

OTOH, I have a feeling that Mudge the Elder might enjoy being in the driver seat in THIS part of the selection process and reliquishing his past role of beggar. The phone at Rancho Curmucho will ring off the hook and the mailman will soon hate the word College! :)

Congratulations. It's a wonderful feeling for both parent and child.

We had to wait until January for the first one, but it was UNC, and I literally jumped in the air, which is something I normally don't do. Son was visibly relieved because it meant he was going to go to college no matter what else happened and he didn't have to go to an unnamed Virginia school.

Curmudgeon,
Congratulations to you and your D! I have enjoyed reading your posts and, believe me, I am taking notes for next year when my D will be going through this process. Thanks for the entertainment and Ill be looking forward to hearing her reactions as she receives her other decisions (hopefully all acceptances). Enjoy each moment!

Congrats!!! While there will undoubtedly be many such letters to follow, the first one is extra special.

Congratulations, 'Mudge. That first one is a relief.

Tsdad, I would have thought that all the Virginia schools had been named by now, what with all the history and everything. Are they holding out for a high price in the new trend for naming rights?

WOW it's only Nov 17th and already an acceptance!! That was fast work!
Congratulations.

Compliments on the essay, huh ;)? That's a good sign. Wonders if curmudgeon sings to himself when happy?

Congratulations to you both. I remember how great it felt to have that first one in the bag. Knowing that you have a solid option makes the next few months so much more pleasant.

Don't pay Xiggi too much mind. Having an "Embarassment of Riches" sure as heck beats the alternative.

Oh, wow, Curm! What wonderful news! It is such a relief to have this acceptance in hand as she thinks about other possibilities. I hope it gives her the confidence to apply to a couple of reaches.

Congrats to one and all! The early ones are never forgotten.

Great news, Curmudgeon. Hendrix really is a fine school. I agree that these boards provide information on wonderful options that many of us had not even considered.

Congratulations!!!!! That early acceptance really does wonders for the stress level around the house.

Keep posting every new event; your story telling is legendary around here.

(and speaking of writing, LOL, TheDad!)

How wonderful!! What a thanksgiving you will have.....all about the possibilities now......congrats!!

Absolutely!!! Congratulations to all of you. This is the best part about EA in my mind -- it really removes some of the stress from the college application process. It kind of reminds me of Sally Fields' Oscar acceptance speech -- "You like me, you really like me!" What a great feeling!
