I'm sorry to bore everybody but i really want to go to uf and i'm really nervous about getting in. So any input would be greatly appreciated:)

-I have a 4.3 uf weighted gpa and a 3.97 unweighted
-I'm #12 in my class. Which is 97th percentile
-I am in BETA club, nhs, mu alpha theta, science national honor society, social studies honor society, and a service club. Though no leadership:(
-I'm instate
-Varsity basketball all 4 years
-But...i only got a 28 on my ACT and my SAT was a train wreck. I'm retaking the ACT but i honestly don't think i will do much better.
-I'm a white female with 2 college educated parents. So i have absolutely no cards to play

I was wondering what everybody's thoughts were as to my admissions prospects. Also. i was wondering if i should apply for summer b. I have heard mixed views on fall vs summer admissions chances and i dont know what is right. I would rather not go for summer but my desire to go to uf is stronger.

UF loves the top 10% and your ACT scores are not that bad. Your UF weighted GPA is great. I’m pretty sure you will get in not even taking all of your ECs into consideration.

-Lettered in basketball since freshman year
-beta club, nhc, optimist, mu aplha theta, snhs, social studies honor society
-Over 100 community service hours

Oh any i forgot to mention that i have taken(and passed) 5 AP classes and are taking 3 more this year.

Your chances are excellent. I’d be very suprised if you didn’t get in. I think it’s slightly better to apply for Summer B. Also, I think it’s required to do one Summer term now, so better to get it over with.

When we visited UF last spring the admissions team told us that applying to begin in summer does not increase your chances of acceptance…just throwing that out there.

Your stats are at the median for GPA last year which was 4.30. SAT median score was 1963 and ACT median composite was 30. The highest GPA and SAT/ACT scoring bands were usually admitted for Fall, then Summer B and then Spring. Your in the range but the Ec’s and the especially the essay will have a lot of impact in getting a favorable admission decision.

Hopefully this response from a frequent poster on this site is helpful as this was EXACTLY what we were told at our tour when someone asked specifically about increasing their admission chances if applying for summer B term: “UF doesn’t admit students based on their selected term. They admit the freshman class as a whole. In other words, they don’t care what term you applied for when you apply. They go through all applications the same and either accept or reject. Once you’re accepted, they’ll do their best to admit you in your preferred term (indicated on your application), but cannot guarantee that. The admissions officer told us, “We are looking to admit you to the freshman class, not particular terms.” … which pretty much clarifies that your term doesn’t matter in admissions. As such, I don’t believe it’s any easier to get into summer B than it is to get into fall, as again, you’re not applying for a term, you’re applying to enter the freshman class.”
