YES! Most freshman can relax! WRITING 140 is over forever

God, I'm so happy. And as long as I got a D+ or above on my A5, I'll have a B.

I'm happy to hear it's over. At least you were not advised to take 3 TO classes at once. The students that were advised to do so are suffering.

YES YES YES. I honestly despised this class so much. It was horrendous.

yay now you guys can look forward to writ 340! TT
I have to take it pretty soon TT I heard it's better than writ 140 though...
I hated 140 with a passion!!

I have a quick question regarding the English Writing courses at USC. Are students required to take a total of two or three writing courses? If two, is it WRIT 130 or WRIT 140 and WRIT 340?

I was looking at USC's transfer requirements and it says "Transfer students generally complete two English composition courses before transferring. .... In addition, all students must take an upper-division writing course at USC, WRIT 340."

Its just two, 140 and 340. It is possible to have equivalent credit for 140 though so you would only have 340 left.

There is a very specific length/word/paper requirement for a class to be considered "equivalent" to writ 140, and many (most?) community college composition classes by themselves don't meet that criterion - but two might.

Only 140 and 340 are required. 130 is an "alternative" class for specific majors instead of 140, in which the only difference is it is not linked to a Cat-6 GE. Because "writ-140 equivalent" classes are not linked to a cat-6 GE either, you sometimes see transfer credit referred to as "writ-130"

I liked 140... but my teacher was really cool. I also really enjoyed 340 (for engineers).

Although I have heard a lot of horror stories...

I just checked blackboard, and it doesn’t list writing 140 as one of my classes. But, I’m taking it this semester and it’s listed on the registration class schedule thing. How many credits is it worth?

4 credits

They’re upgrading the blackboard software this summer, so it might take a while for all classes to show up.
