Yes or No for Filipinos?

Quick question, I know that Filipino is listed under asian, but my family has hispanic roots in the Philippines (i.e. Spanish grandmother), so am I allowed to list my self as Hispanic and Asian, or no? And what do I specify as my specific background??

TIA

You have to realize that race and ethnicity are separate. You can be any race and be Hispanic/Latino (an ethnicity). So if you identify yourself with the Hispanic/Latino culture, then it is perfectly fine to mark your ethnicity as Hispanic/Latino, even though your race is Asian.

So to answer your question - yes, you can list yourself as Hispanic and Asian.

The OP should understand that within the Hispanic pool of applicants, adcoms look at many factors, including country of origin (see the Resources sticky thread, Hispanic applicants and College Admissions).
