Yes or no?

Has anybody gotten accepted and what are your credentials?

According to the NACAC press release dates 5/3 there is still splace for the September class at HPU.

What September class?

The class that begins in September; the class of 2017. Also the list indicates that there is still aid available. Perhaps this is Pell/Stafford/work study $ only.

I mean like what was your act, GPa, ect.

My son was accepted. His ACT (took one time only) was a 29. His two part S.A.T. was 1340. 3 part SAT- 1980 (taken twice) and his GPA is 4.0 unweighted.

I think he was well above the cut though as far as what is actually required. U.S. News reports their middle 50% as 1000-1190 for the two part S.A.T. That would be the 25%-75% range for the incoming freshmen. Hope that helps.

Hi, Would you mind sharing if your son received any type of merit scholarship/amount since his SAT/GPA were both very high for the school. I have been told that if you apply to a school with lower avg. scores your “high scoring student” will probably receive more scholarship than applying to a more competitive school. Thanks

High Point does not just award academic merit as most schools do. You need to apply for it, get accepted and then go back on an assigned weekend for interviews. My D had a 30 ACT and a 4.3 GPA and was awarded 9k. I was hoping for more. Basically after the extra flights, hotel stay and expenses she got exactly what the guidelines under the presidential scholarship section of the website said she would be in line for.

Hi there. Sorry I have not been on here in a while. But yes, my son got a total of 11K in 2 different scholarships. It was the lowest percentage wise of all his scholarships from 9 different schools. But I was not surprised as I had been told that HP just did not give as much money as other places. He did not receive what was in line with the defined parameters even having received the 11K. Even though he really liked HP and it was in the final 3, due to this and some other reasons, he chose to attend a small school in Florida this fall. Good Luck.

Well this is not the school for me, no financial aid=no me…!

Thank all of you for your input, I ended up taking this school off my list anyway

For some reason I thought High Point was more generous with merit aid.

Hi scsiguro…anxious to hear your High Point review!

@tpcrd66: Please see my post in Parents of the HS Class of 2014 - 3.0 to 3.3 GPA

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/16217284-post628.html

Scsiguru- my D will be a Jr at HPU this fall and it has been a great school for her. About 75% of the students are involved in Greek life. Many of her classmates have studied abroad and have had a positive experience with it.

@luckydog…thanks for the information about HP. It was the best tour we had so far. However, not much was discussed about Greek life probably because my D is not interested in a sorority…but that can always change. Anyway, HP will probably be a school to which she’ll apply. We’ve got a lot more visits over the next month or two. Her best friend will be attending Wofford this fall and my D will be going down with her parents for the “parent’s weekend”. That will give her a chance to visit another college.

Hello all, Is there anyway to find the admission essay before going through the whole login/application process? I’m so disappointed we can’t make it down to the open house in September. I plan to reach out to admin counselor looking for a local event.

I’m not having the same experience. I got my acceptance letter yesterday with a 40,000
scholarship(10,000 a year). I also got invited to attend the presidential scholarship weekend to interview and qualify for more money. I did not apply for merit aid. I was just offered this in my acceptance letter.
