<p>I want to apply to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, and UCI but do you think my chances will be slimmer if i apply as a biochem major?</p>

<p>SAT I - 1380 (720 m : 660 v) (taking it again in dec.)
SAT II- 720 writing, 730 korean, 2c (results pending took it 10/9) expecting 700+</p>

<p>G.P.A.
4.5- weighted
3.8- unweighted
11/661 class ranking, top 2% of my class</p>

<p>Current classes:
AP calculus BC, AP Econ, AP chemistry, Hon British lit</p>

<p>AP classes:
AP physics 3, AP Euro 4, AP composition and language 4, AP spanish lang 3, AP Biology 4</p>

120 volunteer hrs at olive view med center
NHS officer - vice president
Speech and Debate officer - secretary
Men's chamber (choir)
Tennis (3 years)
Chess club (10-12)

<p>I'm not sure about the other UCs, but I know that UCLA Biochemistry major applicants aren't worse off than other L&S in terms of admissions chances. Same with Chemistry and other Physical Science applicants.</p>

<p>Yohan, a UCLA admissions representative came to my school today, so I can answer that one for you.</p>

<p>A decided major will not be crucial, nor will it even play a part in your admissions decision. However, there is one exception:</p>

<p>Obviously, students applying to the engineering majors are going to be evaluated by the S/E. </p>

<p>Otherwise, he said, it doesn't quite matter.</p>
