Question: do the 60-80 people chosen include SCEA admits? If it’s only RD applicants, then I think my minuscule chances just became even smaller

Also, does anyone know roughly how many people they admit each year for engineering?

Unfortunately the website says that the event is only for regular decision people…

@everyone
Guys, I wouldn’t worry too much about this. I’m sure that you all have really spectacular achievements in math/science—the thing is, YES is a new program, so we don’t know what exactly it is they are selecting for.

For all we know, geographic location could play a part. If Yale wanted to recruit, it’s possible that they would select more west-coasters than east-coasters because it’s a lot harder for us to visit Yale (as opposed to Stanford). Also, don’t get the false impression that we are all IMO geniuses…I myself have only achieved AIME level in math…perhaps they liked my essays or something? The point is, no one knows…however, we could try compiling the general data of people who were accepted into YES, and observe for similarities…

So weird discovery:
I logged in to the YESW site for the hell of it (I was admitted SCEA), and it looks like I can register for the program. o_0.

it was most likely a glitch. I saw the same thing when i clicked the link and was pretty intrigued by it. but I saw that there was a post on one of the boards of someone asking if YES-W was open to SCEAers and the deputy dean of admissions wrote an entire spiel saying no. -_-
