Hey everyone!!
OK so I really would appreciate some advice/tips on whether I would stand a chance of getting into a fine institution such as Brown.
Please be harsh, critical. I really need to face reality and stop living in my “bubble”.

I take IB courses at school (full IB diploma)… Predicted: 43 - 44/45

That’s basically it!
Any thoughts? And If I don’t stand a chance @ Brown, do you guys have any suggestions of schools that might be able to accept me?

LOL this thread sounds so wrong on so many different levels.
I am so sorry!!! LOL <blushes> Honestly, I’ll be sooooooo thankful if I can change the title of this thread… haha.</blushes>

You’re a strong candidate. If you would like to go to Brown, do apply. If you would really like to go to Brown, do apply, but ED that shiz.

chillax. You know where you stand. Just do your best, and in this case you’ll be ok, regardless of what happens in the admissions process. And a 43-44 predicted score is unnatural (getting that would be even more ridiculous). In the actual tests I only managed one 7, and that was SL physics, which should be considered a joke at the SL level.

But really: is a stranger’s assurance or derision either going to get you in or keep you out? Not unless they’re an admissions officer, it won’t. There are so, so many factors that go into the process that aren’t visible, that you really can’t have that much of a clue to your chances until you try.

LOL i thought i was the only human being to use the word: chillax
hehe
Haha you think a predicted 43 - 44 is unnatural? I think my school just places a higher emphasis on the IB because that is all we care about. Most people here don’t really know what the word: “SAT” means.

^ yes. a 43-45 score is practically unheard of and is simply fantastic. Unfortunately, Brown doesn’t play wait on predictions as much (if at all) as Europe (or probably any place but the US). Very impressive though. DEFINITELY apply. The best chance I can say is ‘you stand a chance.’ I don’t know if anyone on the entire site could give you a more honest (and realistic) chance as that.

Are you able to take the ACT? Sometimes kids do so much better on it. Your SATs aren’t bad and your SAT IIs are quite good but maybe you’d just to better with the ACT.

I know numerous people at Brown with SATs below 2100. They want to see that you succeed generally, not in specific test-taking instances. Worry not.

If you were to not get in, I doubt your SAT scores would be the limiting factor. People with 2400s get turned down while people with 1970s (yes, seriously) get accepted.

I’d rather please you, but I suppose chancing you will suffice :)</blushes>

I think you have a great shot; don’t stress over test scores, and do something interesting this summer! That is more meaningful than some numbers
Good luck fellow International applicant!

everyone I know with sub-2100 going to an ivy was hooked (I know about 8 of these cases) I doubt you’ll get in, but you still have a chance. Apply ED is a good boost though, and write some really powerful essays. However don’t bank on getting in. Also, those stellar SAT II’s will help, although a 740 on the IIC is worth retaking (math 2 is easy to get a perfect on, so it might be worth another try).
