I understand that each of these summer programs allows you to attend lectures and work in the laboratory, but I wanted to know which one offers the best environment for working on an actual research project. In other words, which program is more dedicated to research/experimentation.

Also, would you previous YESS and SHARP participants please add your own 2 cents on the programs (ie. how are the teachers/coordinators, what kind of activities did you do at the summer program, etc.)?

Another concern I have deals with the mentoring at the YESS program. On the website, http://yess.caltech.edu, it says that YESS students will be guided by Caltech undergraduate and graduate students. I would prefer to work with actual Caltech professors, but (this question is for previous YESS participants) do the Caltech students match up?

Lastly, I would like to address the prestigiousness of each program. Which of these programs would look the best on an application to other summer programs such as RSI or engineering schools such as MIT, Stanford, etc.?
