Yet Another "Chance Me" Post

Hi everybody! I know everyone’s tired of these posts, but I would be super appreciative if you took the time to answer mine!

I am a white female from Maryland.

I am applying EARLY DECISION into CAS.

GPA unweighted: 3.58/4.00
GPA weighted: 4.23/5.00

My school doesn’t rank.

ACT 04/12: 27 (33 English, 27 Math, 22 Reading, 25 Science, 9 Essay)
ACT 06/12: 28 (32 English, 27 Math, 27 Reading, 26 Science, 8 Essay)
(Superscore is still a 28)

SAT Spanish II: 570 (not sure if I should include this?)

Junior Year APs:
AP Biology: 3
AP English Language and Comp: 3
AP Spanish Language: 4

Senior Year APs:
AP Chemistry
AP Statistics
(Not taking AP Literature-- instructed to lighten my courseload due to a health issue acquired this summer)

National, Math, Science, and Foreign Language Honor Societies
Dance team 3 years (considered a varsity sport)
Dancer in 3 Drama Club productions

260 volunteer hours

Paid camp counselor this summer and planning on returning next summer

I’m also not sure if they keep tabs on this, but I’ve flown up to Boston to visit campus twice this year and have done the campus tour, info session, and lunch with a student. I’ve also been to every event they’ve hosted in my area.

Thank you guys so much for your time!

You have a decent chance—your stats are good but not amazing. You’ll fall right into the middle average of the applicant pool so you’ll need your essays and recommendations to make you stand apart. Applying ED will certainly help too.

I really don’t understand the value in applying early decision to a school like BU. All you do by applying ED is limit yourself from applying to other schools and could even wind up getting smaller financial aid (if this is a consideration for you). If BU knows you are dead set in coming they’re less likely to offer you enticing scholarships to come.
