Leader and head programmer of highschool robotics team, ranked third regionally

Third generation Georgetown Legacy

I taught classes over the summer at a prestigious private school

I was a presenter at the 2012 Make Magazine World Maker Faire in New York

I took nearly all my highschool classes through a dual-enrollment program at a Community College

Those are pretty much the salient points of my highschool career. I know Georgetown is an extremely selective school, but do I have a shot?

I think so. I was accepted to the college this year with a 3.6 gpa, 660CR, 630M and 9th in my class and I got in. Point is stats don’t mean everything, and I think you have a very good shot. But selective college admissions are a crap shot, and many people who deserve to get in won’t but no matter where you’ll go you will probably succeed.

Out of curiosity, what did the rest of your application look like? EC’s, URM, etc?

Well I had a lot of Ec a few in leadership positions. I’m African American so that was a hook as well. And my recs were superb as I read both the teacher recs, but didn’t read the counselor one but I assumed it was good. I think my essays really helped me stand out though, and I had a great interview and my interviewer and me really connected and both loved history. So just to let you know stats aren’t everything, and you really have to sell yourself in your interview and essays. Oh and just to let you know I posted in the results thread so you can look at that too for my stats and stuff.
