I've been slowly dying in the inside for the past couple weeks or so. I applied ED because I love everything about this school. If I don't get in, I would be pretty devastated. So I'd rather have a realistic mindset now then be crushed later!

So chance me. Harshly.

GPA: W 4.13 UW around 3.5 or 3.6.
Ranking: Top 10% out of 1160
AP's: 9 so far.
ACT: 34 composite, 7 essay (blah. is it worth sending in another ACT with a better essay score?). 35 Writing, 34 Math, 34 Science, 32 Reading
EC: President & founder of Amnesty International (2 years)
French Honors Society community service chair (2 years)
Youth & Govn't Vice President, Committee chairperson (3 years)
Tae kwon do instructor. 300+ hours volunteering, 2nd degree black belt. (8 years)
Played in the orchestra for 2 years, not much of an accomplishment there.
Hospital volunteer (1 year)

My GPA is pretty low, and my EC aren't stellar... what do you guys think? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn’t worry about your ACT score. It is definitely in range and I don’t think one more point is going to matter. Your GPA and EC’s are the issue and, by your own admission, but your course rigor is good. The good news is you applied EA and, hopefully, you’ve written a really good essay and shown lots of “demonstrated interest”, which is important for a WashU applicant. You have a shot. I’m not betting against you. Good luck!

jshain is incorrect in saying your gpa is an issue.
GPA is meaningless when you’re ranked in the top 10%. A top 10% gpa cannot be “low.” And your ec’s are fine.

You’ve got a legit shot. Take a deep breath. There really isn’t anything you can do at this point. They’ve probably already decided on you at this point. You’ll know in less than two weeks.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I went to their Discovery Weekend which was during a school week, which will show my interest. And I got a letter of rec from the principal, if that helps any…

Thanks for the replies guys! I’m slightly reassured now. haha :)

Interest is the same for everyone who applied ED. They already know it’s your first choice.
I say your ECs are pretty good - shows some strong dedication. A 34 ACT for ED is good enough. You should be fine.
