Hook:
- All my summer activities, as well as the fact that I skipped two years of Spanish and took the AP Test in sophomore year. Possibly my wanted major (EEB) and the fact that I come from a low-income family.

So, what do you think? After seeing all the demigods on this forum, I'm guessing my chances are <40% :(. I think the lack of awards and averagish SAT score hurts me.

Did you apply ED? Or are you going to apply ED? Because if you're going to apply this year, you're too late. Your SAT's are fine. They're in the range they need to be in.

Hey Qwertulen. I'm a current Pton freshman. I normally don't like to post on chances threads. Honestly, I don't believe that it's possible, to predict anyone's chances with any significant degree of accuracy. I will say, given your stats that you are formidable competition. Even if you are qualified enough, chances are, unless you distinguish yourself in your application by writing a truly memorable and compelling essay, and have a successful interview (and glowing rec. letters from teachers/counselors); your great stats just won't cut it. Just keep working hard this year. Did you apply ED already? If not, keep in mind that applying RD allows you to further embellish your stats. However, a quick word about RD: the admission cycle is harsh! I applied RD to Pton last year. The RD acceptance rate was a mere 7.8%! Another tip for you to keep in mind is to foster good friendships with your recommendation writers. Otherwise, you can start getting to know new teachers better. The key is not to feel so accomplished that you don't keep working to improve yourself. I hope my few tips will go a long way with you. I wish you the best of luck. If you have any more questions, PM me anytime.

-Jon

I ALREADY put in ED. I sent everything in the 2nd week of October.

Jeez, relax! I'm not the only Jon who was confused by your post (read Jon314's post above mine). Re-read the 4th sentence ("Honestly...accuracy.") and 6th sentence ("Even if... cut it.") of my previous post. And unless you calm down, you can disregard the 17th and 18th sentences of said-post. ;)

Heh, sorry if that last post came out a bit terse, I was putting the caps in for emphasis, not exasperation. Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it.

Qwert: I don't think there are very many people whose chances of getting into Princeton and like schools are much higher than the 40% you mentioned. You certainly have a shot--everything looks pretty good, and I really don't think your SAT scores will keep you out. Oh, and believe me, I am not one of those demigods and am intimidated by them, too. :)
Good luck!

lol demigods

We try. ;)
