Yet another 'chances' thread

Reed is my first choice and dream school. I have second and third and fourth choices and whatever else, but there is such a huge gap between them and Reed that I don't really want to think about the prospect of having to go to them. Anyway, I'm a United States citizen, but live in Europe. I was born and grew up in NY, lived for three years in Switzerland, so my freshman transcript is from an international school there, and I'll be graduating from an international school in Austria.

SAT: 2030, took it at the beginning of junior year (still a junior) and plan to take it again because I did poorly in writing. (780 CR, 590 math, 660 writing) The math score is worrying, but I doubt I can do better.
GPA: My school doesn't give a GPA, but I'm guessing it's around 3.5 or 3.6 with an IB class boost. I had a bad freshman year, with a GPA around 3.00.

I'm taking six IB classes this year, but I'm not doing the IB because of its lack of flexibility/I disagree with it on principle. The very large gaping hole in my resume is that I'm a year behind in math. I've always been terrible at it, and moving around messed up my schedule. I'm in advanced algebra as a junior. It looks very strange with my other classes, since I'm taking rigorous courses and doing well in them. My worst grades are always in math.

Extracurriculars/interesting things

Speech and Debate all four years (will be president next year)
Rainbow Club founder/leader (this is our school's version of the GSA, since GSA is only allowed within the United States)
Knowledge Bowl
Student government
Photography Club
Part of the Krakow Journey project, organizing and taking part in a yearly trip with the history department to see the Auschwitz camp. Every year, I organize an art exhibition after the trip.

I speak Russian and English fluently. I also have a very high level of French and some knowledge of German. Anyway, I know that the Reed admissions are very much based on essays and interviews and that stats can mean nothing, but it would be lovely if I could get some feedback. My essays will most likely be good, writing and English are my strengths. I'm flying to Portland in April to see Reed and have an interview.

never mind, forget it. I generally hate these threads and now I’ve gone and made one.
