The United States is a Republic, not a Democracy.
See site: <a href="http://www.apfn.net/Messageboard/12-22-05/discussion.cgi.69.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.apfn.net/Messageboard/12-22-05/discussion.cgi.69.html</a></p>

The US is both, it's a federal constitutional republic and a representational democracy because of the system from the consitution.

Masterus,

Can you show me the word democracy (or any derivitave therof) in our constitution?

And so how do you decide to delcare this country a 'representational democracy'? Oh, yeah, I forgot. You are in charge of writing all the official US History books. Your use of representational, once again is poor usage, just like instilling a government. Your lack of command of the English language, doesn't impress many of us. Please use it correctly to support people in their quest for better educational opportunities on this board, not to engage in flame wars to feed your ego.

Personality Disorder

Your punctuation is wrong, also derivative doesn't even make sense in your paragraph. I never said instill a goverment, I taked about consitutions. INSTILL MEANS TO INTRODUCE GRADUALLY. The CONSITUTION OF SWITZERLAND WAS INTRODUCED SLOWLY. LEARN YOUR HISTORY. That is how the abolishment of slavery worked, that is how we won our independence and that is how Lincoln went to being an abolisher.

I find it amusing that you were wrong before about Switzerland so you change the subject. Ouch Goaliedad, you don't want to linger too long on your mistakes huh?

How is representational used improperly? Our senatorial system, congressional, presedential system are all from the PEOPLE. The senators REPRESENT the people because they are VOTED by them as with congress and the president.

Ouch Goaliedad, you keep going down.

Technically, Masterus, Congress is supposed to represent the people, and the President is supposed to represent the country, which is why we have the electoral college.

To quote you "WRONG".

My spelling of derivative was actually wrong in the sentence where I used derivative, as I was a bit hurried in my typing.

Deivative <a href="http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/derivative%5B/url%5D">http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/derivative</a>

NOUN: Something derived.
Linguistics: A word formed from another by derivation, such as electricity from electric.
I'll put my thought in simpler terms for somone of your limited vocabulary. There are no words DERIVED from the English word "democracy" in the US Constitution.

I'll give you a little more history lesson on your "representational democracy" (the correct term is "representative democracy"

Our US Senate originally was NOT elected by the people according to the US Constitution as it was originally implemented.
Article I, section 3, "The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each state, chosen by the legislature thereof for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote."
Note that the 17th amendment changed that to a popular vote.

About your misuse of representational...
<a href="http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/representational%5B/url%5D">http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/representational</a>

ADJECTIVE:

Of or relating to representation, especially to realistic graphic representation.
No mention of elections or democracy for representational. You have once again demonstrated a penchant for misusing vocabulary that you clearly don't understand.
So you insist that a country gradually introduces its law? Let me see your facts here. When you enact a constitution, you don't do it one article per day. The constitiution, in its entirety becomes the law when enacted.

LEARN YOUR ENGLISH.

Ouch, Masterus, your command of the English language is slipping. Try to use words you know.

Masterus, you really need to chill out and get a life. Do you have a personality disorder? You think that you're holier than thou and it's pathetic. You're not better than anyone else. You're not smarter than anyone else. Just leave this forum.

And to the parents - I think you guys should just stop arguing with him. He justs wants to show off and try to be cool. He'll realize that he's just a little noob and he'll go away eventually.

I'm going to get a little severe now. You are probably a Janitor.

Ad hominem attacks are the sign of a poor debater.

YOU FAILED AT SAYING THAT SWITZERLAND HAD A SOLID GOVERMENT.
I just did a search on all of my posts. The words "SOLID GOVERNMENT" do not appear in any of MY posts. I think you are having a problem following this thread.
ALSO THE CONSITUTION OF SWITZERLAND HAD TOOK PLACE FROM 1845-1849. YOU HAVE LOST.
Check your grammar. How does a constitution "took place". Or was it "instilled"?
You are very ignorant because IN MY EARLIER POST I SAID OUR SYSTEM OF DEMOCRACY USES A VOTING SYSTEM. I never even mentioned the US Consitution. When did I talk about the past? YOU NEED TO ANSWER WHAT I WRITE DIRECTLY.
Once again, I searched the site for posts by Masterus that had the words "VOTING SYSTEM" and only found the post quoted above.

Oh, and by the way, our "democratic" system is based upon the US Constitution. I guess you are just being misquoted again.

Please put some better thought into your discussion and check your quotes.

And apparently you think that being a janitor is such a worthy job that it needs to be capitalized. Like, President, or Senator, maybe.

Masterus, at least he has a job, at least he's over 18.
You're 14 and a FRESHMAN in highschool. So s(tf)u kthxbye

I think you guys should stop giving him the satisfaction of replying to his posts. He just wants attention.
