Does HMC give out aid to Internationals?!
Cheers!!!

Sounds like HMC is quite a match for you. I think the coolest part is that magazine...

lol thank you! anyone else?

I have been reading about Mudd for quite some time now. The boards the comments at Students Review and every other piece of info I can lay my hands on. Well the only thing I have to say is ........... I WANT TO BE A MUDDER!!!!

Mudd is for me! You know how those tailored suits fit? The same way Mudd fits me! The honor code, the academics, the professors! Everything!

I might even apply ED :D

btw does anyone know approximately how many Indians are there at Mudd?

There are quite a few Indians, I'd say they make up a few percent of each class. And of course you can't forget the occasional Bengali or Pakistani (like myself).

so no other comments on my chances? :D Am I so bad? chuckle

and one more thing does Mudd provide full tuition ride?! Cos Financing my education is really difficult.

From the website:

Because Harvey Mudd College funding for international students is limited (and international students are not eligible for federal funding), your level of financial need may affect your chances for admission. Please be advised:

* We have funds that allow us to support only a handful of international students. There’s a lot of competition for funding.
* If you’re an international first-year applicant and wish to apply for aid, you may not apply for Early Decision because we like to review all international candidates before allotting our limited funds.
* If you enter HMC as an international student who does not need financial aid, you won’t be eligible to apply for aid in subsequent years.

As for a full tuition ride, there is the Corporate Scholars Program which is slightly more, but more competetive.

so do I have a shot at it?

extremely low chances (international applicant) because of HMC's ridiculously terrible admissions office

Mudd likes to screw over international applicants from asia real bad (in favor of artificially raising the female acceptance rate to 50% to "promote diversity" instead!!!)

I have a freshman international with aid friend who is Indian but she has near perfect stats and is unbelievably smart.

You're going to basically have to be the ONE/TWO Indian student(s) that they accept for that class.

Well, you certainly have a shot, but with the unbalanced nature of HMC admission do not expect anything.

hmm I didnt knew about HMC being so choosy. I will still apply lets see what happens :)

atomicfusion : perfect stats in what sense, mate?

as in 2390 SAT, 4 800 SAT IIs I think. And probably perfect grades although she never exactly told me what her grades were.

Whenever I ask about my chances I keep losing hope. :(

Well the thing is univeristies in the US typically have a large preference to Americans; they get first crack over internationals. It does not mean you are screwed by any means in the long run; it just means you might need attend a tier 2 school and then attend a tier 1 school after proving yourself at said tier 2.

I am not saying you do not have a shot; your stats seem great. But just know that you are at a disadvantage compared to your average American applicant.

Honestly though, I would say you have good shot at being admitted to Mudd. Its just the financial problems that might prevent you from getting admitted.

hmm....I wish Mudd was need-blind!

"hmm....I wish Mudd was need-blind!"

Yeah, wouldn't that be nice if everyone had a level playing-ground.

yeah..... :D
