i got of to a pretty slow start in hs and my freshman year gpa and 1st semester sophomore year grades were pretty poor. however since then my gpa has been steadily increasing:

freshman:3.3, 3.5
sophomore:3.2, 3.8
junior: 4.3, 4.4
total weighted gpa after junior year: 3.73
uw: 3.5
estimated gpa first semester senior year: 4.3

i am in almost all honors classes, have a 2100 sat, 32 act, and have decent ec's (200+ hrs volunteering at hospital, 50+ hrs shadowing a doctor, varsity tennis, all suburban jazz saxophonist). however im in like the top 25% of my class now and should be top 20% after first semester.

It is a reach. I think so, at least. You're going to need to explain a few things though- like your grades in freshman and sophomore year. Was there a reason? If so, put it in your app.

You're going to need to spend some good time on your essays to make sure they can outweigh some of your freshman/sophomore grades.

well, lets say that we ignore your gpa for one second, which is lower than normal for CMC. your SAT is at the median for this year, so it neither helps nor hurts you. the next part of your app is then your ecs/essay, and i dont really see any leadership in your ecs. that being said, dont count yourself out but i would say it is a reach as well

I would also like to know my chances of getting into CMC, but didn't want to create a third topic on the matter. Therefore, I'll just tack my information on to this thread. The school has, for a long time, been my top choice, but lately some of the other schools to which i'm applying have looked appealing too.

I think you have a good shot. If this is your number one school, thought of applying ED? Yours stats are good, GPA is good, ECs are good.... Yeah, I think you are in the running. CMC loves to see students who LOVE the school. And, they will pick someone who wants to go to CMC over someone who treats it as a backup or an alternate. So, make sure to let them know how much you want to go there. Interview, get great recs... Good luck!
