According to Forbes Magazine, Ann Arbor is the third most educated city in the US, ahead of the likes of Cambridge, MA, Berkeley, CA and San Francisco.

That's not true at all... they just don't get the chance to stay in Ann Arbor.

Forgiven, you are kidding right? I would move to Ann Arbor in a heartbeat if the right job presented itself. And if I were ever in a position of complete financial independence, I would buy a home in Ann Arbor and live half the year there. Most Michigan alums share my sentiment about Ann Arbor.

I and all my OOS friends want to possibly stay in Ann Arbor, but none of my in-state friends do.

then what do you guys like so much about ann arbor?
i mean the u of m campus is nice and everything, but ann arbor? -_-
you don't have access to any major cities either.
i would rather work in boston, nyc, philadelphia, san francisco, chicago, and retire in california, suburbs of upstate ny, georgia, etc.

I have lived all over the place and nothing compares to Ann Arbor. The culture (rich visual and performing art scene), the vibe, the quaint streets, the highly educated population, the access to world-class amenities such as the University of Michigan, the Detroit Metro Airport, Michigan hospital, Detroit Museum and music scene, Somerset Mall, excellent international cuisine and of course, the sports (Michigan Football, Hockey and gymnastics and the Pistons, the Red Wings and now the Tigers). I can go on and on, but I think you get the picture. Give it time, Ann Arbor will grow on you!

Yes, Ann Arbor would definitely be a sanctuary and haven for people who went to Michigan, but can you imagine living there if you went somewhere else for college? I dont think I could handle it lol

Go ahead and work in NYC, I would take Ann Arbor anyday of the week over NYC, i'm not going to try and convince you to stay and take up potential real estate.

Money magazine picked Ann Arbor as one of the best places to retire in 2003. My wife and I were seriously considering buying a retirement home and live there half the year ... that is, until we moved overseas.

I do agree that if you are not a Michigan alum, it won't be as much fun.
