Essays: how a certain video game changed my life, writing my IB extended essay, my love of music, and my well-roundedness
Teacher recs: English and Math teachers
Counselor rec: our school's IB coordinator :)

Planned major: biology or English

I think I come off as too well-rounded and not as academically strong as the kids from my school I'm applying with (we have at least fifteen doing SCEA to Stanford). Does Stanford look for well-rounded kids or more academically oriented kids? Thanks!

They don't look for either, they actually prefer "ovular" kids
Scores are decent, although, your ecs are scattered "chess club, muslim student association, chess club, etc" aren't all that relevant
Decent shot though! Good luck!

Good profile on paper. Still if the "at least 15 kids" from your school applying SCEA are all ranking ahead of you, your climb is a bit steeper. Focus on distinguishing yourself in the essay and showing yourself as a well-rounded individual. All the best.

Thanks for the encouragement ^_^

Damn man! We are VERY alike

*copy paste from another thread:

Teacher recs: I expect a REALLY good one from ENglish teacher, a class where I got 1 of my 2 B+'s in. It'll be interesting. 1 from my Math teacher, we have great connection.

Other recs: Art recs. One from my piano teacher explaining my passion, one from art teacher telling how good at technical skill I am and how I love to help community with my art.

I will be sending in 2 art supplements. 1 flash animation compilation, that also shows a brief introduction with some of my paintings, and 1 CD with me playing Rachmaninoff and Lizst.

Essays about the fashion I wear (urban streetwear) and then to well roundness and love of music, self study of quantum physics, deep explanation of how I will use my talents to serve a purpose in life.

Intended major: Biology

Apply with EA with supplement, and you will compete with me! I'm thinking you have as good of a chance as I do? I bet you they would they would directly compare us since we are so similar LOL =D

Wow. I can't even imagine competing against 15 other people for EA

sucks =(

lol I'm competing for 20 other people for stanford EA and my graduating class is only 360 students. Another High school about 25 blocks away from my high school also has 20+ students applying. So basically I'm competing in a pool of 40+ people from my town. really sad.

But anyways, nice SAT, but I don't know about the Bio score. The fact that you're Chinese makes it way harder. Also Piano, Violin, Painting, Volunteer seems a little too much. How do you get the time to do all of it? I mean do it well?

@w0oj0o: :D Let's both get in and hang out some time.

@sadface: >_> That sounds rough. I really don't know how I do the things that I do, especially since I spend half my time at home playing video games. There must be two me's or something.
