(yet another) FAFSA question

Hello, I am currently a senior in HS. I finished all my college apps, and now I have to do the FAFSA and CSS and all the other fun stuffs.

Regarding the FAFSA, I asked my mom if she had done the taxes for 2010 yet and she said she hadn't yet, and would probably do them in February. However, my situation is that I am a US citizen living in Korea, so my mom has to fly over to the states in order to do taxes. I would like to get the FAFSA done as soon as possible. So should I ask my mom to go early this year and get taxes done ASAP or is it better to use 2009 tax records and estimate?

All this financial aid stuff is new to me and rather confusing... thanks in advance for helping out :)

Why would she have to fly to the states to do taxes? We lived overseas for several years and did not fly back to the States to do our taxes.

But go ahead and use estimates in order to meet your deadlines. Then correct later.

I’m not quite sure why either.
She is pretty old-fashioned (doesn’t know how to use computers), and we still have property in the states too so it might have something to do with that perhaps? I’ll try asking to see if she could do them without being there in person.

But thank you for the fast reply!!
