CAS scholarships at NYU are determined by both merit and need, correct? Well I got this scholarship for $13,000 for the next school year. If my EFC goes up from $16k (where it was when I filed my last FAFSA) to $50k or so, would this eliminate/reduce my scholarship? It would go up because my mother is selling a house in the Northeast and buying in Montana for ~$100,000 cheaper. Thus, the EFC goes through the roof.

Is your money a merit scholarship or financial aid? I think that here at NYU, the two are very different. Merit scholarships disregard your family's finances. However, financial aid does not - that's the FAFSA EC stuff.

It came in the folder marked "financial aid"...

Er, then... I don't know. Is there any... text or anything that would give clues?

Nope. :-/

I thought the so called "CAS Scholarship" was at least partially merit-based, but that was what I heard from people around here, not NYU officials...

Okay. I don't know much - not an expert by any means, but when I see "scholarship," I think, "merit." When I see "financial aid," I think, "need."

On Monday, call the Office of Financial Aid. :)
