Yet another hackneyed and stupid question...

RD or Early?
Before you say anything...i've looked through many threads already regarding to this question...but i kept getting mixed opinions..... does early boost my chances or ruin my life unless i'm some olympic-cancer-curing-astronaut? I don't feel like listing my stats since I'm still a junior...but i'm very frustrated right now and really want to know? which one gives a better chance? RD or Early?

Early* bc it shows your interest. unless your app is down the toilet bad, submit it to a college you really really love! :) chill! dont worry that much about it this early otherwise youll go nuts (like me...)

i understand how you feel. according to the Stanford website, EA gives no boost to an applicant, and RDers and EAers are of the same caliber. what's good about EA is that it relieves a lot of stress if you get accepted. so if you believe that you have done your best by the end of your junior year and have nothing to add to your app, then go EA. if, on the other hand, you have something to add like bringing your GPA up, go RD... sorry i can't be more helpful

The way that I see it, if you're rejected EA, you wouldn't have had a chance RD either (if you were borderline, they obviously would've deferred you). If you're deferred EA, this is actually kind of a good thing - the RD acceptance rate out of the deferred pool is slightly higher than the general RD pool. And if you're accepted, rock on, you get to enjoy a wonderfully free senior year.

So if your application is in order and Stanford is your first choice, I think applying early is clearly the way to go.

I concur with the above. If you feel strongly about Stanford (or any other school that you want to do EA/ED for), just do it. Please don't try to overanalyze what could give you a .01% boost in luck, because it's not really possible and will just make you nervous. Just do your best in school and your activities, and apply early if you think it's right for you. I agree with Jimmy that if you don't get in EA, you wouldn't have gotten RD... so don't try to play the game =] Do what you want to do.

JimmyEatWorld711 got it right.

thx guys....EA it is.....
