EC: (Not many but very time consuming)
I have swum for the past 8ish years at the state level and competed in open water races up to the marathon (10K) distance. I’m not great at it but it’s a large time commitment.
I’m very involved in Band. I was 2nd chair at our all state festival. I am a drum major of my schools marching band.
I also do mock trial and was an honorable mention district attorney.
For volunteer experience I often work at the local animal shelter and have helped for the past two summers in a program my swim team hosts to help kids who may not have access to lessons learn how to swim.

I feel as though one of my recs will be really really good and the other will be fairly good but not incredible. I feel good about my essay and it’s about using music as a metaphor for life philosophy.

Thank you for reading if you’ve gone this far. I’m mostly interested in competitive LACs (Wesleyan, Vassar, Oberlin, Grinnell, Bowdoin, etc…) and was wondering what any of you thought. How much would ED help? Any comments are appreciated and I hope you have a fantastic day/relatively stress free college search process.
All the best.

First of all, I like the title to this thread. So I think that you have a good chance for all of these colleges. You might even want to try for some more selective schools (of course, I don’t know what your major is going to be so I can’t comment on that too much). Academics look good, so do standardized tests, but if your major is going to be STEM related, I think that you might want to retake the ACT to bring up math and science, just for those really selective schools. That’s really the only advice I have. You have a great shot at these colleges so good luck!
