Yet another paranoid midyear issue

Well, I'm a senior and one of my first semester grades was, shall we say, unspeakably lower than usual.

As in it starts with the same letter as Delaware.

And although it's AP Calc, I still don't think it reflects the kind of work I put into the class. So, I was thinking of writing a letter to some of the schools I've applied to, explaining some things (death in the family, increased work hours, etc.). I was wondering, what's the best way to physically go about doing this? An e-mail probably wouldn't work, so I was thinking a snail mail letter to the admissions office, I guess asking it to be included or considered along with the rest of my app?

Also, has anyone done the same thing in a similar situation?

Oh, and just to be clear because I said it kind of awkwardly: I'm not suggesting writing a letter with made-up reasons. Both of things actually happened to me lol.

hmm, I would get your counselor to write something, too, so it's more official. I know how hard that it is to have deaths in the family...and good luck with your issue

Ah, thanks for the link.
