Your major is only the thing you will be labeled as for internships, scholarships, and job opportunities -- picking the major that best fits with your goals in these areas would be a good idea. It doesn't really sound like you want to work with psychology, so it really isn't necessary to have a major/minor/anything in psychology. This doesn't mean you can't take classes in it though, as it sounds like you are mainly doing it for fun and learning anyway. I love history and plan to take classes in it, maybe even get a minor, along with my business degree. I'm not too concerned with getting any specific distinction (major or minor) as it won't really affect me at all, I'll learn just as well and I don't plan to work in academia or research anyway.

My D enjoyed taking many psych courses without being a major because she could work her way around the prerequisites to get the subject matter of interest to her (developmental psych, educational psych and social psych). She dodged the department's experimental courses, so never performed experiments, nor did she want to.
Perhaps you can look ahead now and map out a way to pick-and-choose your way through that department's relevant courses in the coming years.
You have a TERRIFIC attitude, IMHO. Best wishes and I hope to read your stuff someday.

margsala - I just reread your original thread and saw that you have already been accepted to UNC and are also OOS. Senior moments!! Congratulations! It is difficult for an OOSer to get accepted to UNC. You are obviously a talented individual. My D applied to UNC, but was rejected, so I have read about the journalism program there. It is such a good program. Best of luck to you.

paying3tuitions and Dogwood, thanks for the compliments.
So I guess that Journalism it is. Thank you a lot for the advice!
