Yet another revoking admissions thread..

I was recently accepted into Northwestern but am very concerned that my admissions may be rescinded. Since my admission my grades have dropped significantly, and I will likely end up having 3 C's on my final transcript as opposed to the 1 C+ on my midyear. Though I am trying very hard to bring my grades up, I would like some advice as to what else I should do to remedy the situation. Would calling Northwestern be a good idea? Thanks in advance.

Northwestern will not revoke your admission as long as you pass your courses. Get a D and you can kiss your admission good-bye.

Its really stupid to just put blanket statements out there like that...there are no general rules on revoking. Just try and keep them in the B range...thats about it.

actually its pretty accurate
on the final forms u have to send in
the counselor basically fills out the form
it has a box
did the student receive and d's or f's during the year?
and they check the box if you did
any other questions about grades on the final stuff?
nope

They don't ask any other questions because you have to send in a final transcript.

Yeah, deffered what are you taking about? The student sends in the transcript...

I think he means, they specifically ask that, so it is an indicator that it's something they frown upon and would hurt you a LOT. I would say Bs are fine, try to fix Cs, and Ds and Fs are major trouble.

ok, I sent in my final transcript.. it wasn't as bad as I anticipated- only two c+'s. still keeping my fingers crossed though. thanks for the input guys.

if, by now, they haven't told you you're not staying in the class of '09, you should be in the clear. besides, colleges don't like to rescind offers to students that plan to attend because it costs the college money. i think you're fine.

You JUST sent in your final transcript? If that is the case then you are extremely late.

my school just sent out the transcripts. i gave them the form at the end of May. our guidance department sucks. we had to get on them to send out everything over the past four years. so it's not necessarily his fault that they weren't sent. maybe his guidance department sucks too.

Mine only sent the transcript last week due to an error in the school system. I got an email from NU saying they still needed my transcript... wasn't too happy about that. At least HS is over now.

Same thing happened to me

bump........

OMG...you got 1 C+ in your midyear and you still got accepted...that's amazing~~~

got any tips you can provide for someone without amazing grades (4.15 Weighted GPA) and test scores (2100ish) but strong ECs and leadership???

yeah, i got the letter from NU saying they haden't recieved my transcript and i was ready to kill my guidance counselor. it's all good now though.. i hope

in reponse to sammo, yes i got a c+ (which is probably what kept me out of harvard, yale, duke, upenn, columbia, and brown), but i had good EC's (i.e. all county, all state, all national orchestras; intel finalist; founder of several clubs; 900+ community service hours; etc etc etc). colleges are looking for applicants with character- they are not looking to admit just numbers. emphasize your strengths and leadership and you should be a very worthy candidate.
