I'm ecstatic about CR, but I'm really conflicted. I was shooting for 700+ on all sections, but I'm not surprised at Math. I AM surprised that my Writing score is the lowest. I'm not feeling too confident about these 600s. I'm applying to Columbia, Stanford, Harvard, Brown, Rice, Yale, and UT Austin, and I think I'm average in those school's typical applicant pools. Asian, valedictorian/salutatorian, middle-class, some state/national contests, decent leadership. Should I retake? Thank you so much for having read this far and for any advice you have.

Oh gosh, you’re like me! I got a 2170 (800 CR, 680 M, 690 W). I’m going to retake because Math and Writing are pretty easy to review for. Just concentrate on grammar rules and whatever math sections you’re weakest on. That’s what I’m planning on doing; hopefully we’ll both pull those sections into the 700s.

I’d say you should retake it, especially if this was your first time… The 670 and 680 would be a real problem for those schools, and you want to eliminate any possible obstacles!

Sigh. Thanks. I’m seriously crushed. Plus the testing dates are weird…May is a school event I’m hoping I get to participate in, and June, I have to do subject tests. -.- Good luck @iluvbooks94. Geez.

@2016glor, write as much as possible. I always write to the last line by having 4 paragraphs, the two body paragraphs being very-well developed. That should land you at least an 11, maybe a 12.

@Aspirare: See, I consider writing one of my strengths, which is why…yeah. Ouch. I usually write very concisely, though. I think I had hardly gotten to the second page…-_-

@hilroy: LOL. Would you really rather have my scores? XD I’d gladly take yours.

@2016glor: No. 700+ should be fine, and seeing as it’s already your third time…I’d stick with those excellent scores. ^_^

@007imagine, being concise on the SAT is not necessarily a good thing! Just see how much you can write (in coherent sentences, of course) by jamming a few “SAT” vocab words in the intro. I always do this and have pulled off an 11 twice!
