Yes Sorry this is yet another schedule thread. I am so fed up with this and CC is the only place I can go to get real help on my schedule. I am going to be a sophomore and my school has all these prerequisites and stuff. I want to have a hard and challenging schedule, but at the same time, I want to take subjects that I will enjoy. My favorite subject is science/psychology closely followed by history and English. Math is not my best but I want to challenge myself. I am in another state every 2 weekends due to competitive sports and I am very busy I hope this isnt too much. Please no rude comments, I know its not up to par with everyone elses schedule, but its the best I can do with my school.
First Semester:
Honors Chemistry
Honors Algebra II (this is supposed to be for juniors at my school)
Honors English II
Honors Civics and Economics
AP Human Geography (online after school)

Second Semester:
Spanish
AP Psychology
AP Environmental Science
AP Statistics*
AP Human Geography (online after school)
Honors Pre Calc (online after school)

Okay so is AP stats hard? Should I trade it for AP Euro or APUSH? Is this schedule rigorous? I am taking the most AP classes out of any sophomore in the school, but I want to get 5s and As in these classes, not just take them. I have a ton of ECs and I dont want to be over loaded. I chose the only APs available to me. Also, should I trade AP Human Geo for AP Computer Science A? Is computer science a math?
Just PLEASE help!

If you aren’t very good at math, switch AP Stats for APUSH. Keep Human Geo because the AP exam is very doable and easy if you study a bit. AP Psych and envi. science both aren’t difficult AP exams if your willing to study. I think that’s a pretty good schedule and you should do well on those AP exams because they are known to be the easiest AP’s. Those are a lot of AP’s for a Sophomore but age is nothing but a number go for it but don’t overwhelm yourself.

Thank you goldmind! Yes, these are the “easy APs” so I hope I can do well

First semester for you shouldn’t be too challenging for you, Algebra II is a little challenging (I’m not a math person myself). My brother took AP Human Geography and from him, he says that his class had to memorize all the countries and most of all the capitals around the world before even starting the actual AP Human Geo curriculum. Honors Chemistry isn’t THAT difficult, but you have to study, and practice to understand the material.

Second semester is where the hard work comes in. You said that you weren’t completely the “math person” but you’re willing to challenge yourself, so you don’t really have to choose AP Stats & Prob, you can have an AP history class if you want. No one can really tell you what classes to take. Pick the class you think will help you in the long run, and what interest you the most. AP U.S History and AP European History are considered GPA killers in my school…(well every AP class in my school is considered a GPA killer lol except for AP World) These two classes require a lot of reading, memorization and writing. Computer science is a mixture between science and mathematics. You’ll use mathematical and scientific approaches in the course. I don’t know too much about it lol. Like I said before, choose the class that you have the most interest in. For example, when I was choosing classes for Junior year it was between AP Environmental Science and AP Chemistry. I’m in the Agriculture completer program, so I have to take classes that relate to that, so I thought AP Environmental will cover that, which it does not. Then I thought of my career goals. I want to become a Veterinarian, so I thought to myself, do I really need Environmental Science in medicine? My answer was no, so I choose AP Chemistry. This is the type of thinking you should start developing going into Sophomore year.

Overall, Is it rigorous? Definitely, but remember, don’t make this your number one priority when picking classes, have fun once in awhile. In my school, the only AP Sophomores can take is AP World History, and the teacher is a push over, so the grades are curved a lot, and everyone has a A in that class. That’s why they get 2’s on the AP exam Back on track, AP classes require a lot work, so your job is to find balance between your classes and your EC’s. Sometimes you have to take out some EC’s for the sake of your education. Time management is key. Which is completely normal. I’m in the FFA, and we have a competition practices, and I said that I can’t participate in the competition or the practices because I have summer studying to do and etc. Good Luck.

WOOW @fantasy! THank you sooo much! what a thoughtful answer!!! AP Euro is a really hard class at my school, I had the teacher for Hon World (no AP available) I don’t know if AP stats and pre cal are going to be really difficult together. I just don’t know what to do!

Don’t worry, it’ll all come together. Pre-Calculus is just like Honors Honors Algebra II lol. Pre-Calculus is Algebra II in depth with new material. The Pre-Calculus material at my school has a ‘Intro to Calculus’ unit which includes Limits and all that good stuff. Pre-Calculus isn’t easy and require work. Since it’s online, it will go at your own pace which is a good thing. AP Statistics is a totally different math from Pre-Calculus. AP Statistics require writing and critical thinking. You have to know rules and etc, and plug numbers into equations. But the projects are fun, according to my brother.

Here’s the formula sheet for AP Stats to give you a general idea:

Do NOT take AP Psych and APES in the same year. They’re on the same day. It’s the reason why I got a 3 on psych. I could’ve easily gotten at least a 4, if not a 5 had I not been so burnt out. You’re basically doing 200 MC and 6 essays in 6 hours with no break for lunch.

I didn’t know they were on the same day and wished someone had told me.

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump

This is a very impressive schedule, coming from an incoming sophomore. From what I hear, AP Human Geography is pretty easy so I think you can definitely survive. Also, I took Algebra II as a freshman (I’m not a math person either, I’m glad others can relate) and I did not have too much difficulty with it, you will be absolutely fine. Kudos on your schedule though! Very impressive for a sophomore. But also, I would probably make a choice between AP Psych or AP Environmental Sci because those tests are on the same day if I’m not mistaken.

Ugh I can’t. Once you sign up for an AP you can’t back out unless you switch it. So I have to take AP enviro and Psych. Oh well, I’m still pumped. Thanks everyone
