Yet another transfer student...

Hello! Well, I guess I'll join the rest of the transfer students inquiring about our chances of acceptance. It is so important to me to get in and I have been working very hard to do so. I just don't want to do anything else but electrical engineering :( I did apply to Southern Poly just in case but I'd much rather go to Tech. And I will apply until that happens! I have completed 48 hours at GSU. I applied to Tech for the Fall 2010 semester. My stats are as follows:

Courses completed:
English 1 & 2
Honors Gen. Chem I
Calculus I & II
All Social Sciences requirements
Economics requirement
Hist/Govt requirement
3 hrs completed of the Humanities requirement

I have made all A's and A+'s in everything except a B in Calculus I. Which makes my GPA still a 4.00 because the A+'s gave me 4.30 per.

This Spring 2010 semester I am taking (and granted I continue to do well):
Honors Gen. Chem II
Physics I
Calculus III

This summer, even though it will not be considered for my acceptance I will take Linear Algebra and Differential Equations if possible.

The only thing I am worried about is a transcript from over 10 years ago, when I was 18 and did not care a bit about my education or making good grades. Alas, it still counts :(
None of the courses are transferable. But my GPA was 3.08

How much will Ga Tech take this old transcript into consideration?

Now I don’t know if you have all the requirements for transfer (I’ll leave that up to GP), but your grades seem plenty good enough to successfully transfer in. I don’t think GT would take the old transcript all that much into consideration. I think they see you’ve matured in your school work and you are capable of handling the workload.

Oh ok. Thank you very much. I sure hope they do. I have read the prerequisite chart and Physics II and Linear Algebra are “recommended,” but not required. I do not know how much that influences their decision, whether one has completed them or not. I surely won’t be able to take Physics II at GSU until Fall 2010 and Linear Algebra I will take over the summer, but I know that that is also too late for Fall 2010 consideration. I just hope to really rock this semester so that maybe I’ll have a chance? I’m hoping :)
