Also, if there are any schools that you’d think better match my quals, I’d really appreciate suggestions!

Thanks!

Fairly good chance. Even better though if you talk to the fencing coach, Gamil. He is Egyptian and-although admittedly may be not quite the typical women's college coach-is a good coach with a very dry sense of humor. Wellesley is always looking for good students who happen to also be good athletes. Wellesley fencers do pretty well. One woman won the NCAA's in epee a couple of years back.

How often does Wellesey's fencing team practice? Do fences have to try out? Would it be more effective to contact Gamil through email, or snail mail?

What year did you do VOD? And what speech events do you do? I did both too. I'm do OO and I did VOD this year.

I did the most recent VOD contest- celebrating our veterans' service- and made it to the California level of State. For speech and debate, I've done just about every interp event, but I'm definitely partial towards OPP and DI. Is Wellesley your dream school too?

Elana

I'd call Gamil or write to him. He doesn't seem like the sort of person who would like to use email-although you could try. The fencing team practiced four days a week when I was there for about two hours each day. It was fairly flexible regarding labs, etc. Most of us were science majors it seemed and did very well academically. Pretty much any one can be a part of the team if you keep showing up-but to actually fence in meets you have to be one of the top three or four in your weapon. Most people with prior experience probably would have a good shot at fencing in actual meets sooner rather than later.

Hi Elana...guess who? Think penguins and paper cranes and San Jose

River Glen or Bernal? Tracy? Katie? Jane? Anatasha? Jillian? Wait, you must be older than me. I'm stumped.
