Yet another...what are my chances?

well guys its another of those questions: what are my chances of getting into a med program? I am specifically looking at U of miami med and USF/UCF med, but Miami is my top choice. Put it this way, if i get an acceptance letter into their med all of my other apps will b worthless, they are my 1st choice.

Stats:
GPA: 3.6 UW, school doesnt weight
SAT I: 2000/2400, no clu why i did so bad but retaking in June
SAT II's: Math 2C: 800, Bio: 660, US: 680, retaking bio and doign chem in october
AP's: junior year: AP Bio and AP USH, senior: AP Calc, AP Econ (Macro and Micro), AP Lang and AP Chemistry, estimating high 4's or 5's on my APs this year.

EC's:
Photo editor of yearbook for 2 years (in charge of all pix in yearbook)
sports asst. editor of newspaper this year and photo editor for paper next year, and writer for 10th grade
math club for 5th year next year (high leadership position there)
Drama for two years (spring musical, etc)
150+ hours of hospital volunteering and 100+ hours of Red Cross

Going to India this summer for mission work/also going to be the main point for my essays. Teacher Recs will also be very good guaranteed.

Yes, it seems like a long shot, but jwing how my chances are at these schools and if you could reccomend any others. Thanks guys!

UM is really tough and competitive to get into. If you can get that GPA up to a 3.7.... you'd be a good candidate for the UCF/USF med.

Your ex. curr. are pretty solid; I'd suggest that you work on your SAT and GPA for the most part.

I'm not sure you're a very strong applicant, but you never know with these med programs. Try to raise your GPA/SAT scores, and make sure that you display your passion for medicine in your application. And be careful of the essay topic: It's been done many, many times before, so your essay might come out cliched or corny. Figure out a way to make it work.

Bring up those stats, i got into the miami medical program and will be going there this fall. For your help, here are my stats

3.71 UW GPA, 16/591 class rank
SAT I (OLD VERSION) 1460

SAT II: MATh II C: 700
Biology: 660
Writing: 770

AP AB CALC: 4
AP EURO: 4
AP ECON MACRO: 4

ALL 4 years of IB classes however

Numerous ecs

I can tell you right now, the interview was the most important aspect

they narrow it down from about 500 to 120 that get interviewd. then 30 make it
SO Nail that interview

were sat 2s required for the miami program?

hmm i dont think they were....but i was like wat the hell ill take them

SAT 2's are required

Quick update with the scores: SAT: 2110 Math-770, CR-660, W-680 and ACT 32 (33's in everything except english w/29), considering taking the SAT in november, only thing holding me back is that is when a lot of apps are due so maybe but prolly. thanks guys!

um. quick question what does USF/UCF stand for? thanks

USF is Univeristy of SOuth Floridalocated in Tampa and UCF is University of Central Florida in Orlando. They have a med program in conjunction with Florida International University. go to USF's UCF's FIU's website to check out the details.
