yet another "will columbia take me?" thread...

i'll be a high school junior this year, and have been considering apply to columbia's early admission program. i havnt yet taken the SATs, but i have a good idea of where i should land based on practice tests.

in all honesty, what do you guys think of my resume?

single white male.
from the suburbs.

GPA:
weighted/unweighted would be about the same- a 3.9

SATs:
based on practice tests, im confident that i can get above 700s on all three sections.
SAT IIs:
i got a 780 on bio, and ( once again based on practice) im confident that i can get high 700s for critical reading.

APs:
i took the only AP offered to sophomores at my high school, it was biology, and i got a 5 on the exam. i'm taking chem, english language, and latin literature this year.

Recognition:
ive gotten one silver and one gold medal for the national latin exam.
i was a johns hopkins scholar through middle school (if that counts for anything...)
this last year, my sophomore year, i recieved the "beacon award for creativity, character, and intellect" from the principal. my school's mascot is a clipper ship, and the beacon is supposed to "lead the way" or something corny like that. it was the first year that the award was given, and one person from each grade is chosen.
i've recieved two acting awards from the massachusetts high school drama guild (massachusetts' one-act competition.)

Extracurriculars/volunteering/work:
drama club: 1-3
latin club: 1-3
newspaper: 2-3
math team: 2-3
art club: 3
young democrats: 3
amnesty international: 3

i've worked the past two summers at McDonalds.
i babysit and mow lawns through the summer and during the school year.
i've volunteered at the local recreation camp for the past five summers.

i'm confident in recieving strong reccomendations and i believe that i've got an unique and effective essay.

once i take the SATs, ill have a much better picture- but i've got a pretty good idea of where i will score on them.

what do you guys think?

i tried to edit my post but couldnt, so im replying instead.

for my weighted/unweighted gpa- my high school does not calculate gpa till half way through junior year, but its a standard 4.0 system (a=4.0, -a=3.75.) so i have a 3.9/4.0. not out of 5.0. so i dont really know if its weighted or unweighted, because ive heard a few different ways to calculate it.

so yeah

GPA: 3.9/4.0

probably didnt even need to clarify that though haha.

hmmmm??? at most schools, A=4.00 and then grades go down in increments of .33, such that A-= 3.67, B+=3.33, etc. an a minus counting as a 3.75 is rather odd...

bump

our school uses .25 increments for GPA, but i recalculated it using the .33 and it became a 3.8.

bump

if anyone please could

bump10char

stop bumping this thread....not only do most of us regularly ignore chances threads anyway but this is a chances thread without any real stats
