YFU summer exchange program

I read that colleges like exchange programs where you got a "competitive scholarship". Does an exchange program with YFU fall into that category? I went to Japan last summer on a $4000 scholarship through YFU so I think it does but not sure because im pretty sure YFU requires everyone to have a scholarship...

Also, are competitive exchange programs good for applications? I mean exchange programs where you apply for a scholarship and do an interview, not just one where you simply pay to go.

thanks

Where are you going to specify that you got a scholarship to attend? Are you listing it as an EC or summer activity?

My girlfriend is doing YFU to Germany :-P

I don’t know…

is there a difference between the two?

Just a note of clarification. While most program options for YFU program to Japan for the summer are scholarship only; all YFU scholarships are merit based and competitive. While most going to Japan have won a scholarship not all applicants win. Good luck. Let us know if your exchange did indeed give you a competitive edge. marketing@yfu.org. - Lisa
