yield on axline?

out of curiosity, anyone know what percentage of people offered the axline scholarship actually accept it and go to caltech? i'm contemplating declining the scholarship, and i was just wondering whether that actually happens often.

Congratulations. Obviously, there are many Axline would choose to go somewhere else. People at that level of achievement would likely to have many choices. I do believe Caltech's merit award is not a market tool. It is designed mainly to encourage, to challenge and to reward academic excellence. It is not often publicized but it is recorded on transcript.

The representative that called from Caltech said that about half the kids decline it, though I'm not sure about actual numbers.
