Yield Rises (news item)

Web Update: Yield rises to 59.7 percent - The Daily Princetonian

"Nearly 60 percent of students offered a place in the Class of 2013 have accepted, Dean of Admission Janet Rapelye told The Daily Princetonian on Friday afternoon. Of the 2,150 students who were offered admission, 1,284 have enrolled, or 59.7 percent.

The University has also admitted 31 students off its waitlist, Rapelye said, adding that her office will hear back from those students next week.

“We might take a few more students after that, but not many,” she said.

After use of the waitlist, it looks as though the yield will have risen about 1.5% this year to just slightly over 60%. It also appears that most of the notices to the waitlist have already gone out. For those of you still hoping, I'm sorry that there weren't more. Inevitably, there will be some additional spots that open up. At Princeton as at all of its peers there are always some students who change their minds, decide to take a year off or decide to take up a waitlist offer from some other school. Best of luck to all of you.

Ah, crap. Guess who’s not going to Princeton? Me!

well, so much for getting in off the waitlist…it’s been a nice run

oh i’m so upset right now… i didnt expect it, but i was still hoping. i really wanted to go…
:'(

I’m really sorry bballbabe, I’ve read a lot of your posts over the past few months and you genuinely seem like a wonderfully warm and sociable person; precisely the kind that I’d like to see more of at Princeton.

ray121988, put in a good word for him! :]

haha im a girl lol :)

but thank you… i just cant take this, ive never been this sad or hysterical… i wish they could take just one more person.

@RedCatharsis - lol, basically the only time I ever walk into West College is when I have a pass-fail form to turn in.

i’m so sorry, basketballbabe… it really doesn’t seem fair

But I know McGill is a wonderful university and really respected all over. People say that once you get to your school in the fall, you inevitably become so content there that you can’t imagine yourself anywhere else. Hopefully that happens with you!

Best of luck at McGill.

Dear Babe in Canada,
I have been pulling for you and also thought you seemed like a wonderful person for Princeton. My D will be attending next fall and as I have told her over and over again during the admissions process…everyone lands where they are supposed to go.
McGill is an outstanding school and if this where you end up going, I am sure you will make a wonderful addition to their student body.
Disappointment is difficult but everything or usually everything happens for a reason. However, it isn’t over til the proverbial fat lady in admissions sings…so buck up and be proud of your accomplishments.
One more comment, Ray you seem like a sensitive and fine young man and I hope my D gets to meet you.

Some advice from a Mom

I wish we here at cc had a vote. That we could pick one person from the community. I’d vote for you bball girl.

aww well you guys are really sweet. Yeah I’m trying to get more attached to McGill, and I know I should be happy to attend one of Canada’s greatest universities. But it is just the whole “fit” factor that I’ve discovered after being admitted. I realized that it is not about prestige at all. Although here in Canada, McGill holds the same “prestige” as Princeton does in the states (I’m not comparing the two, they are definitely on different levels) I just don’t have that same passion, and I really do hope that I like it once I get there. I can’t afford a couple of the schools I did get admitted to in the states, and I do have a few scholarships to McGill, so I figured it was the only sensible choice.

I know I should let go at this point, and I sort of am… I’m going to a McGill info session here on Tuesday. But I’m not completely letting go of Princeton until I get that rejection at the end of June. I know it seems silly, but I really do hope that somehow a miracle will happen and I’ll end up where I belong next year.

Anyways, I’ll still be all over the Princeton board… I can’t get over my love for the school that easily, so I’ll see you all around. Thanks for your support, and to those of you who are at Princeton, or who just got off the waitlist, live it fully. Take advantage of the best classes, go to all the parties, study and defeat the grade deflation, and most of all, just have the time of your lives. I will try to live vicariously through you all.

PS And yes, eagle1, it isn’t over till the fat lady sings. Yesterday I was thinking, that I’m not going to do my last AP on Monday. But now, I think I’m going to take all my passion and pain for Princeton and channel it into getting a 5. Lets see if I can do it!

And PS, it’s nice to know I have all your support, even if the votes don’t get sent to the admissions office. haha maybe in the future, there will be enough current students on CC to sign petitions or sit in front of the Princeton admissions office in hunger strike. However, for now, just knowing that you all care means the world to me.

Well, congrats to everyone who was blessed with an acceptance to Princeton…I really had hope for the waitlist considering the 148 people taken off last year…but things don’t always happen the way you want them to…in all honesty, i felt honored to be placed on Princeton’s waitlist because it meant I was competitive and I did everything right, but it just didn’t work out…I have no regrets in applying and would not have changed anything I did…For me, basketballbabe, and all the others who didn’t quite make it, i’m sure we’ll be great elsewhere, whether it’s Rutgers for me, or McGill for bbabe…Once again, good luck everybody…

bicyclekick

So does anybody know if the wait-list is done for sure? I haven’t heard anything about the yield of those 31.

Fantastic yield for a no-ED program. My hat goes off to Princeton (for once ;))

It’s bout time we got some praise from you. ^^

Don’t worry I still hate you guys :)

Oh and I was visiting the Career Services office for a meeting regarding company recruiting and I stole Princeton Class of 2013 goodies :D

according to the facebook group, one girl got off on Friday! congrats to her, and good luck to the rest of you :)
