I’ve only started the common app essay and did the bit about describing one extra curricular. I’d don’t want to run the risk of the supplementals changing by August 1st and having to start over.

Where can we find this year’s supplemental essay prompts for the schools we want to apply to? Also, what is the extracurricular and 6-option essay?

This is gonna sound bad but I LOVE writing so I already wrote 11 different drafts for the Common App (since topics are so broad!)

The problem now is not how to write an essay but which one(s) to use -___-

knightsgk I think it varies from school to school, I’d check on the school website; most of them have online applications…

@ophelia Wow, that’s a lot o_O I’d be happy to read over a few and help you narrow them down, if you’d like.

Anyway,
I’m still working on my third one, and in response to the OP’s post, I’m applying to University of Pittsburgh, University of Miami, Ohio State, University of Michigan, UNC, UCSD, perhaps NYU, and a few others. Thankfully, most of my schools use the common app

UPenn also released theirs, if anyone is interested!

Could you please post the URL or the essays themselves for unc and Georgetown ? I can’t find them.

I started the common app essay; I have a few drafts. I also started on the UChicago one, but I’m not too sure if I’m applying, so I kinda slowed down on that one. I also started my ‘Why Vassar’ essay, since I’m considering ED, so I want it to be really good. But that could change, so I’ll have to wait till August to find out.

I can’t believe it’s our time to apply!

What about Hopkins url? ^

Thanks princess!

Hello class of 2017! As a 2016er and speaking from hindsight, I highly, highly, highly recommend that you begin your essays over summer.

Granted, as an international applicant with heavy financial need, I applied to twenty-something schools to ensure at least a financial and academic safety among them. But whether you plan to apply to one school or thirty schools in the fall, your smartest bet is to get as much done as possible while school is in recess.

Good luck! I will be part of the Stanford class of 2016. Perhaps some of you will join us a year from now :)

Hey guys, for the University of Pennsylvania supplement, I think that’s the one from last year o.o

If you look at this link: http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/forms/PennAppSuppInstructions_2012.pdf
I shows the Supplement instructions for 2012. Scroll down, and for SAT/SAT II subject test dates it lists the ones from last year.
I’m guessing the “Fall 2012” means “form for applicants entering Penn in Fall 2012.”
How confusing.

Kabob, I’m pretty sure ‘Fall 2012’ means those applying in this upcoming admissions cycle.

Fitchick, thanks for the advice!

Glad to help!

And yes, the Fall 2012 application (linked above) is the one I submitted back in December…but unless Penn changes its essay prompts from year to year, it is safe to proceed with those prompts.

Penn did change their supplement for 2013

Common app done, first drafts for pretty much every other school that I’m applying to before January 1st (so the early schools, UCs, and schools with no early programs)

My plan is to get everything sent out to colleges in the first week of October.

The link to the UNC supplements that someone posted earlier is wrong. Thats from last year. Here’s the one for the class of 2013!

Hey guys
Ive written one for the common app (really bad right now and kinda cheesy)
One for stanfords intellectual vitality one, two for the roomate one, and a really bad one for what matters and why.
Ive also started both the upenn ones and one uchicago prompt
Best of luck to y’all

I just started my common app essay a few days ago. One thing I’m a bit confused about; why are there 5 other choices besides “topic of your choice”? Are the other prompts just there in case people need inspiration? If I do topic of your choice, do I need to say specifically what my topic is?

i believe those are just prompts, i’m also doing topic of my choice and i’m just going straight into my essay.
