Yo do I even have a chance to get into the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor)

Hello peoples of the internets. Could any of you give me insight on if I can get into the University of Michigan
Here are my stats

[ *] College (LSA, engineering, etc.): Engineering
[ *] NEW SAT: 1380 Overall, 750 Math, 630 Engish.
[ *] UM unweighted GPA: 3.88
[ *] Rank: 6/60
[ *] Other stats: Max ap classes I can take at my school (so 2). (AP physics 1 and 2, Math AB)
[ *] Subjective (ECs, special circumstances, etc): Robotics for 7 years, over 60 hours volunteering, summer job at camp, winter job at a hockey arena, I play all sports, but not any of them very well
[ *] Essays: My common app essay is actually pretty good. It is, however, a tad edgy, but represents me really well.
[ *] Teacher Recs: 3, all good, 2 really good
[ *] Counselor Rec: Math teacher and counselor, liked me a lot
[ *] Hook (legacy, recruited athlete, etc.): I am extremely well rounded
[ *] State or Country: Canada
[ *] School Type: Private
[ *] Ethnicity: White
[ *] Gender: M
[ *] major strength/weakness: science and math

If u guys wanna know anymore, just ask

Thanks to anyone who took time to read this.

Your a bit on the low side for the SAT, but about average for GPA. Make sure you apply EA and have really great essays, I’d call it a low reach.

It is a reach for slightly below average GPA (3.9+ in CoE) and near 25th percentile SAT from Canada. Your chance would be slightly lower than the OOS admission rate of <20% (around 25% overall admission rate for CoE including instate), and therefore a reach.

Hey guys OP here. Just wanted to update that i got in. Not sure how it happened, but im not gonna question it.
thanks

@imadiealone Congrats! I think that your being International student and presumably sticker price/full pay tipped the balance in your favor.

@trackmbe3 Ya now the real question is can i prove to myself that the 40,000 dollars a year more compared to U of T or UBC is worth it…

Good news! Would you qualify for any FA? I’m not sure about internationals, but OOS students generally qualify.

@TooOld4School Thank’s , and no I dont think so.

We really hope you come, but 40K/yr is a big difference. Did you apply to McGill, I think of all the Canadian schools that gives the most traditional college experience. You’ll certainly feel at home with the weather unless you are from BC. The beer is better too, Michigan is about 10 years ahead of Ontario in craft beer quality. Did you know that the even the women’s basketball team has Canadian players (a member of the Canadian national team)?

Thanks! Im actually from montreal and McGill very close, which is the main reason I don’t want to go (too close to home). But I have been thinking about Mich since i got my decision and i really started to realize the opportunity they have given me, and it dawned on me how incredible this is and how i probably have to go.

Good luck, and hope you can pull the finances together.
