yo, so what does this mean?

columbia admissions sent me this email and it was like "Great essay. Brutally honest. Refreshing among the masses".

What does this mean. do they send this to everyone. Is this little more than false hope when they crush and defer my dreams? And what when my dreams are deffered? Will they explode?

These questions I do need answered, though I would appreciate knowing about what the email means first. We'll save the dreams question for later

I don't know what that means BUT if they didn't accept me after that I would go all the way to their office of admissions and slap them in the face for giving so much false hope.

what was your essay about?

can i read it? Please?

i wouldnt send your essay, if i was you

ok. i read the essay. good intro, but i kinda got bored in the middle. but that always happens with me. i dont read much. anyways.... this topic was a huge risk. either it worked or it didnt. but i have to say one thing. did "gay" have anything to do with what u said later on? i didnt find any other "gay" words afterwards. meaning i dont think you talked about it. or maybe i missed the whole subject of the essay

the whole point of the essay was not to be about being gay. It was being gay's influence on my life outside of being gay, which is why the shift of the essay turns away from that point.

It was a pretty interesting essay to say the least. It definitely is an original idea, but as chrichessill pointed out, it was a big risk since it's tough to know what admissions officers would think of the 'subject' - but then again, it's not right to assume that they would dislike the 'subject.'

I'm not too surprised that they sent you the e-mail. If you're one of the few who got the e-mail, it may a good indicator that you'll get admitted...but again, that doesn't guarantee admission...

Good luck and best wishes with your college admissions.

Just pour your hearts out to them girl. And remember, honesty is the best policy!

Three deadly topics for essays:

1.) Sexual abuse / rape
2.) Coming out of the closet
3.) Having an abortion

These should all be forwarded to a priest/teacher/counselor/police officer/parent/friend/principal/etc.

I have been reading up, and you are to avoid those three topics, regardless of how much they have influenced your life.

y so? I think they are really good topics to discuss about.

Please PM me the essay, Bouncetotheizzo. Thanks!

may I read it please?

Can I see :)

Anything that has had a big impact should be used in an essay. Even if it is a hot button topic it should be used. The essay is what makes you stand out. Don't send an essay unless it really makes you seem unique, even if you have to write about controversial topics.

eh, not necessarily...you shouldn't include things that might make them label you as "mentally unstable"

i love that poem

Meeting my daily talking-about-home quota: Langston Hughes lived in Lawrence, you know.

my essay will be how i was turned down by my crush...
