you all frustrate me :( :( :(

As a senior who is applying to bunch of colleges, I come and read what you wrote here very often. And you know what? Some posts here seem to make me the most idiotic person in the world! I thought I was on track, doing what I was supposed to do with self-respect and everything, but as I read on and on, I started to lose confidence :( Especially posts regarding SAT scores, Stats and stuff.. Why does EVERYONE here have perfect scores, ECs, and everything?????

Should I stop coming here? :( I do think your posts are very informative, but very frustrating at the same time... sigh

There is more to life than going to an Ivy League university.

Honestly, the posters on CC generally represent some of the “top” students applying to those colleges, as in, they’re well above average. Don’t be discouraged if you scores aren’t up with theirs because you still may have a shot.

qq .

That’s why you should hang out here in HSL, where most have us have become so jaded to the whole admissions process that the only times we reference it are to make trite remarks or patronize people who are still obsessed.

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide):
you are not your test scores

Aww.

I think it’s time for some wise words:

“Nobody’s perfect
You live and you learn it
'Cause everybody makes mistakes”

Keep that in mind and everything will be okayy. :]

^^Hey that’s true, but lots of CCers have better ECs, more intellectual impact, more humanitarian impact, better awards, more distinctions, highly unique and interesting life stories, are in poverty, are URMs, better teacher-student relationships, are super nice, athletic, passionate, devoted, AND have better test scores.

Are you frustrated now?
Don’t be, as you can be like that too.

For $14.99 you can buy the entire set of How to be a CCer: Epic win series.

If you call now, you will also get the ECs: How look BE a CEO, Nonprofit President, Law intern, Researcher, and Philosopher all at once!

For absolutely free!
Call I-LOVE-CCers NOW!

(Lack of parallelism lulz)

wow millan cad, that is so true. and all this time ive been thinking the opposite. ill keep that in mind.

welcome to CC.

“you are not your test scores”
sometimes, u ARE.

jk, sort of.

Don’t worry. I’m not going to an Ivy either, but I’m learning a lot about college applications and what to expect when it comes to me applying to college.

but for ucf, you ARE your test scores. and if you’re a D, then you be gone. :frowning:
it’s saddening.

Why are you losing confidence? CC is absolutely NOT representative of the general application pool. Hell, I’d lose confidence if I was competing against only these people for college admissions, but otherwise, I’m pretty sure both you and I are doing really well.

STATS DON’T MATTER

what matters is what you actually learn

if you go to school and learn stuff and remember what you learn then you’ve done well, and if you do that in important classes (like stuff that everything builds on) then even better

you wouldn’t believe how many people can get passing grades in high school math and not remember the distributive law when they get to college

but yea, knowledge >>> grades for not looking like an idiot

of course if you know stuff you probably have good grades too, the two are far from independent, but just so we’re clear on which is more important.

Understanding relativity is pointless if your report card has straight FAILs.

failure is relative

failure is common.

I, and we, have lost count of how many failures we have experienced.

Bring your inner gift to us!

But an F on the report card is absolute.

^are you sure about that? Maybe you deserve an A+ but your teacher hates you and gives you an F because you pansed her in front of the class or maybe you said, “Shut the **** up **…im trying to listen to music. If you wanna teach me *, go suck it.”

Then how about that? An F is not absolute. It’s relative. To the teacher, you deserve an F b/c you were disrespectful to her but to yourself, you deserve an A+ because you got good test scores. It’s all in a matter relativity my friend. Good times.

^yes, because we all know that if the college admissions people see an F, they might think, ‘well, it might actually be an A’. um, no. an F IS absolute.
