"You are beautiful"

If I say that to a girl, is she gonna like it or feel uncomfortable?

ehhh, thats iffey....ive got different reactions from that on

hella awkward...

"um... thanks?" leaves

I'll tell you a story about a friend of mine. We'll call him "Willis."

"You are beautiful" is Willis' favorite pickup line. It worked for a few months on a few different girls, who would blush, say, "Oh, no, really?" and play right into his hand.

One girl, though, would say "Thanks" very nonchalantly each time he tried it (every day). Until one day she got tired of it and said, "I know, I got the point. Can't you be a bit more descriptive?" He got really freaked out and never talked to her again.

um.. i'd say .. awkward!!! unless you're her boyfriend or something.

thanks babe, but i'm taken

so telling someone "you're beautiful" makes people feel awkward?

yeah basically. idk like if a boyfriend said that i'd like it but especially that word 'beautiful' if it were any guy besides a boyfriend i would think it was weird and feel really uncomfortable.

yep. But "nice eyes... they match your socks" always pleases a girl. ;)

While I think it would be flattering to a girl, I don't think it's the kind of thing you should say if you really want a relationship. It's awfully shallow.

Paraiso -- In eighth grade, I made the mistake of telling a girl, "Your purple eyeshadow matches your braces!" She couldn't even look me in the face after that.

idk since I'm a guy, but I would think that saying "you are beautiful" would sound a bit stalkerish, kinda like implying that you stared at a girl unblinkingly for say...20min...

Depends how you say it and the context it's used in.

I'd be kinda freaked out too if a girl came up to me and said, "You're beautiful". The first thing I would think is, "why is she so desperate", followed by, “she must have some kind of venereal disease”.

LMAO...if a girl used the word beautiful to describe me I'd turn and run away as fast as I can.

I get told Im beatiful all the time. Each person who says that to me walks away with a sore cheek though.

Just make sure you're not leaking spit or holding an ax handle.

definitely stalkerish...girls think they want that kind of attention, but I'd say most girls prefer a bit of a challenge and some subtle flirting. Coming right out and saying it is weird

If you come right out and say it, it's very strange. Most girls (know this from experience) would consider it condescending and insincere--if you tell a girl she's beautiful then she will tend not to believe you. It definitely makes her feel awkward. Don't do it. And while you're at it, don't call her "baby" or "honey" if she's not your girlfriend.

ha, i think there is a diff also in the way you say things

if you say with like, "yeah, ur beautiful" <<rolls eyes="">> </rolls>

it's better than bein like

"i've been eye raping you for the past year and a half without u noticing... oh i meant to say ur beautiful" <<stares>></stares>
