You are invited to SOAR!

Hi everyone! I just received CP’s email regarding the registration process for SOAR.

The email also stated:
MyCalPoly is ready for 2010 SOAR Reservations! Don’t forget to make your reservation prior to July 5, 2010 to avoid the $25.00 additional late fee.

Have fun!

^^ I’m waiting for my daughter to get home from work so she can register or have me do it. Finally!! :)

I registered for my daughter and us (her parents) after she gave me the date she wanted. I noticed they had her email listed as: XXXXXXX@calpoly.edu. Later I noticed it said: Your reservation is now complete! You should receive a confirmation email, which includes important information regarding orientation. So far, all her other email from Cal Poly has been to her *regular *email address. How does she access the email above and how does she receive notices from the school that way?

According to the SOAR email:

P.S.: Regarding the email address that appears in the system, remember that ‘@calpoly.edu’ is a username that forwards to your ‘Email Delivery Address.’ Your ‘Email Delivery Address’ can be changed on MyCalPoly under ‘the Personal Info’ tab. For changes to any other personal information, link to your Student Center first to make changes.

I have the @calpoly.edu email forwarded to my yahoo mail since February, so all the mailings are forwarded to the yahoo mail account. I have not yet received the said confirmation email for SOAR after completing the registration, too. Maybe there’s another glitch and it will show up later… hopefully.

Oh, okay. Thanks! She already has her AOL email address listed on her Personal Info tab and she has been getting regular email from Cal Poly. She just got a Welcome letter from the director of her dept., as well as Admissions yesterday. She never forwards me this stuff, so I have no idea what it said! :-)

Another question: My daughter registered for $75 and registered us as **Parent With Extra Guest Lunch/B. That was another $50 for both of us. When I went back and read the instructions, I noticed it said: “You need to do a separate “Add a guest” window for each parent.” So, I went back and registered my husband under Guest and clicked on No Guest Lunch – no charge since I already paid previously. Is this right? I certainly didn’t want them to charge my credit card again. Maybe I’ll give them a call on Monday to verify that both my husband and I are registered with lunches. :)

My son and I are all signed up and he got the date he wanted. August 2nd! Time to make the hotel reservation…

So, momofmv, it sounds like just the two of you are going. I hope I signed my husband up the right way. Our date is August 10. I’ll cancel one of the hotel dates. Looking forward! Is this fee part of enrollment/registration? In other words do they count it as part of the total cost of attending? If so, I want my credit card reimbursed from our college fund. :)

August 11th! College of Agriculture : )

My son and I are also signed up for August 2nd. I signed my husband up to attend as well since it was only an extra $10.00 for his lunch, but he’s not certain he can attend yet. We are staying at the Quality Suites again.

We’re going to try La Cuesta Inn this time, but well be back at Quaility Suites for Move-In day. For Parents Weekend we’ll stay two nights at La Cuesta (unless we don’t like it for SOAR)

My husband can’t come because it is his first day back to work after the entire month of July off for vacation. He also needs to watch our daughter at night. She is only 8.

we are staying at The Holiday Inn Express. I like the Priority Club advantage because we will earn enough points for a free room after staying there for Soar and move-in day. The rooms are nice from what I have seen and the location is great. The price isn’t bad and it has a free breakfast. We will be staying there for the first time during SOAR. It has been renovated and looks quite nice.

CalMom05 I hope to see you and your son at SOAR on Aug. 2nd!

We’ll be sure to look for you.

has anyone received a confirmation email? I registered saturday afternoon…

I was wondering the same thing. I registerd my son and I this weekend and neither one of us has received a confirming e-mail.

I just called and spoke to a student (Brian). I told him we hadn’t received a confirmation email yet. He said it should have gone out, but he told me he’ll re-send it to my daughter’s address. I also thought that Visa would send me a payment confirmation. He looked it up in the computer and everything is paid. So, I’ll just bring the paper I printed off the website. He also said that my husband will get the $10 lunch and attend the program and I’ll get the lunch and all the paperwork for the day. Only one set of papers, though. No way would I pay another $40 just for the paperwork. :)

Thanks 2leashes. I haven’t gotten a confirming e-mail, but I am sure it all went through.

Is this even worth going to? I heard it was useless.

is anyone staying the night?
i keep hearing about it from students who went through it last year,
but i don’t know anything about it haha.

Our family *was *going to stay on campus in Poly Canyon, but decided to stay in a hotel not too far away. The apts. on campus are fairly stark. I found a room for less and it includes a continental breakfast.
