YOU decide if I should apply to Penn ED

I can't make a decision.

Penn is obviously my top choice and I would go over any school in the world (including HYPS) but I feel like my stats are too low to be admitted to CAS Early Decision.

Would not being in the top 10% KILL ME?! I know Penn has 99% of their class in the first decile.. I am in the second decile at a pretty competitive public school in NY.

Also, would taking the SAT FOUR times KILL ME? haha got 2060 last time...... maybe taking again?

ahhh I need help.. maybe I should just give up on UPenn? What do you guys suggest..

P.S. I have no hooks.

I’m sorry, but an unhooked candidate with a 2060 who is not in the top 10% of his/her class will not get in, ED or RD. If I were you, I would set my sights at a more realistic level – perhaps WashU ED?

firstly, asking CCers - people you will never meet in your life who could be middle-aged pedos for all you know- to make a decision that could profoundly change YOUR life is ■■■■■■■■. just from this lack of judgment, I doubt you will make it into UPenn, but I digress.

With your stats, I would say your chance of acceptance is less than 1%. If you are an URM, development case, or recruited athlete, then your chance will rise to 5%. Still, I don’t see why you shouldn’t apply ED. You have nothing to lose, and you might as well take a shot or you’ll always be left with the “what if” question.

alright you made the decision easy, i will not apply at all, i have no real shot… oh well… ill get over it…

99% are in top 10%. that’s a rough statistic, and if you were a part of the 1% that’s excepted from the rule, believe me, you’d know it already.

but if you really love penn, think about transferring. it’s not impossible to do.

i wasn’t trying to be a dick, but what I said was true. Just as what choklitrain said, if 99% of the class is in top 10%, then it statistically makes sense that you have less than 1% chance since in that 1%, there are probably the hooked.

Does that statistic include schools that don’t rank?
