Not a country, but I want to go to Antarctica someday. Probably not for a year, though. It would be lonely, which is part of the appeal for me…but it would get old after a while.

(I’ve probably romanticized it out to be more beautiful and unadulterated than it really is, but I think it’s crazy that we have a whole continent that we currently use primarily for scientific research, with only a few thousand people staying on it and no real permanent residents.)

Realistically, though, I’d probably just to Canada. I’m not well-traveled and it would be the least overwhelming. And, as we know, I like the cold.

Yeah it really sounds like fun there… There are plenty of radically different cultures out there without having to live in one that actively discriminates against you for your gender.

@UKgirl23 No need for the sarcasm… You don’t have to agree with my (completely hypothetical) answer, but you also don’t need to insult me. I’m curious about the world, and I don’t think the conflicts in the Middle East are as black/white as you seem to believe. If that is a crime, then I guess I’m guilty. If we aviod places that we don’t understand, we just remain ignorant.
And lets not pretend that there aren’t places in the US (or the UK) that are less than perfect. I’m not even middle eastern, but I think you need to chill a little bit.
Peace

even though i’m a girl, i would like to temporarily live in the middle east. obviously not afghanistan or something, but there’s nothing “wrong” with going to a relatively safe area, if only to appreciate what you have more. it is a risk, though. Sucks that i’m a girl who’s interested in foreign relations, but how anti-feminist to let that hold me back…

Japan. Has the best food in the world, I’m already proficient in the language, and I’ve been there before and the experience is nothing but a good time.
